How to correct too much fuselage reflection

Featured Replies

Hi,Could someone remind me how to correct AI a/c with too much reflection, as in these examples, using Photoshop ideally:2mdmo0w.jpgqrhqmo.jpgI have changed the colour balance to c.230 all channels (I thought that was the trick), but I don't recall now how to save the file (I have to save the alpha??). I did it several times a few years back, now I seem to have forgotten and almost an hour searching on Google hasn't helped! Many thanks,Martin.. they are my previous before & after shots, obviously! But what did I do?? :(

make the alpha layer less black the less black it isthe less shiny the plane is.use dxtbmp to view the alpha and send it to your editor of choice, then save after editing, then click reload after edit in dxtbmp, then save as extended bitmap dxt3 or 32 bit.cheersJP

Hi. Thanks for the reply. The bitmaps I opened in DXT1Bmp (all Flight1 Ultimate Traffic AI a/c) have just a plain black alpha, including though those where the reflection was fine. Others have grey or white alphas I notice. To make them 'less black', you mean what exactly? 'More white'? Presumably not just lighten them in PSP or similar (increase brightness/contrast), but change the colour values (in PSP, I set R, G & B to about 235: when I load the dud files, some or all of these values are very low: but putting them all up to 235 doesn't help. Maybe I am not saving the changes: how do I save the file once I have altered the RGB values - according to PSP, I haven't made any changes at all, so the Save option is greyed out).Of course I can import the alpha from a 'grey' or 'white' file, but if you know what I am supposed to do in Photoshop, I'd like to make a note of it for future use. Thanks again,Martin

I'll go and have a look. Thanks. You need to save the alpha information as a channel rather than as a bmp. Although the document is aimed at gauge programmers, take a look at the 'Adding Alpha Channels' section in 'Creating C-Gauges' (sd2gau28.zip). This may help
