md-11 descent problem

Featured Replies

I'm having a problem getting my MD-11 for 2004 to descend from cruise altitude. I did the tutorial that came with the simulation and everything worked properly until it came time for the aircraft begin its descent. At that time it descended to 36,800 feet and held. I checked the instructions and I followed them properly. Anyone know about this or have heard of this problem?

Did you actually reset the altitude in the FCP to a lower one? I tend to set it to the minimum descent altitude for the destination airport, or the last PROF constraint, and the PROF deals with the descent and constraint compliance on the way down...I have never had any issues with the aircraft not descending at the calculated T/D unless I forgot to reset the FCP altitude correctly...Andrew

You need to set the altitude on the FCP to a lower one (as mentioned), if you had already done that was it in profile mode? Was the altitude on the right side of the FMA (top of the PFD) in magenta? Did you check the "PERF" page on the CDU to see if you were above or below profile?Did you try to manually set decent by lowing the Alt on the FCP then pulling the knob (puts the plane into idle clamp, pitch mode) or manually dialing in a decent rate (VS or FPA) on the wheel next to it?If you continue to have the problem please post a picture of your PFD (the large left screen) and FCP (the panel you control autopilot) then we can see whats not right :)Oh and it's forum rules to post your real name otherwise your posts might get deleted.

Thanks for the help. I'll do it again this weekend with your instructions and see if it works.Larry
