Engine noise

Featured Replies

I did a search but it didn't return anything but I know it has been discussed before. Has anyone found a solution to hearing the engines running in spot view after you shut down the engines on your A/C? This issue happens on several aircraft of mine. Thanks for any info.

Please name a couple of the aircraft. General aircraft or big jets? Could it be that what you hear is the GPU still running?

No like the maddog, the CS 757, PMDG 747 I'll start with engines running then do a complete shut down, then when I go to spot view after the aircraft is completely shut down and engines off you can still here the eninges running as if I just entered the sim. It's not the GPU it is full engine running sounds. THanks

Try resetting the sound by hitting Q to turn the sound off and then Q again. That works for me with some add-on aircraft sound glitches.

I've got the 747X and if I turn off the engines, but have electrical systems still on, the fans in the cockpit will still be on. If I change to spot view I can still hear the fans. Not the engines. If I turn of the battery everything will be silent, even in spot view. Odd thing that the cockpit fans is on in spot view.

There is a flaw in the sound engine of FSX that will -at odd times- affect all aircraft, default or addon. There's nothing more disturbing to me to have "jet engine noise" playing while I've got the default C172 loaded...Cycling the Q key has never stopped the sound for me, but after a few hours it will go away on its own. :(

definitely a flaw. I can hear the ai aircraft noise even after unchecking everything in sounds settings!

Just to be sure about this - and don't ask me why I know to ask :( :( - you aren't confusing a sound `problem` with the sound of another aircraft on a neighbouring stand by any chance..?

No Simon, I've had this happen numerous times whilst parked at an otherwise unoccupied grass strip... :(

With respect to the PMDG 747, make sure you have batteries off and disconnect the external power source, that leaves me with a completely dark AND silent cockpitAlex C

Alex, this particular "bug" that's being discussed occurs irrespective of the aircraft loaded. In fact, I've even switched to my custom "Cross-hairs" model (just a big red crosshair symbol I use for scenery placement) and have the same problem...The only two ways I've discovered to get rid of the "phantom engine sounds" have been; wait until it stops on its own or shut down FSX and restart it...

Indeed this is an FSX Sound issue affecting certain soundcards in certain scenarios, sometimes it happens and sometimes not! All I can suggest is press Q twice to reset the sounds - something im always having to do myself! :)
