Sound Distortion

Featured Replies

Hello everybody,I'm having some sound issues in FS2004. Anytime I go full throttle with certain aircraft and go into spot plane mode, the engine sounds become distorted and very high pitched. It will sound normal for a few seconds and then go back to sounding messed up; then the cycle repeats. Also, the ATC sounds are distorted as well. I can't even understand anything the controllers say. Finally, that morse code beeping sound is messed up as well. These distortions are very annoying and greatly affect my FS experience. My sound drivers are up to date and I recently reinstalled FS, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Thanks for your help.

Hi,Make sure all your speaker plugs are in tight.

Yep, they are in tight alright. Could this be an audio codec problem?

Run dxdiag and check your sound acceleration settings in DirectX. In addition check your sound quality setings within FS.Wolfgang

I did all of this already. Everything is fully accelerated and the sound quality settings in FS are set to high.

In Dxdiag try setting the acceleration back to 'Basic' and see if that helps. I have read that higher settings can cause problems for some users.Hope this helps,Mel

That type of distortion seems like a loose connection somewhere. I know you checked your speakers, but maybe check your audio card and the plug there? What kind of sound setup do you have? Does this distortion occur outside of FS?
