January 1, 201016 yr Hi,I know the thread is a few weeks old now but it was very enlightening, Stefan raised some very good points that i feel the same way about but im not as articulate and find it hard to get my point across as you will no doubt see from the effort. I have been using flight sims for many years now. It wasn't until i started using PMDG products that i started taking it seriously that is to say using charts making sure i update the navdata etc. I have been put off from using Vatsim or flying online should i say because i dont want to make myself look a fool during the Taxi phase or any phase for that matter but i could never work out which routes to take to get to a parking gate or the runway i find it very confusing and sometimes the route data just wont match to what i am reading on the charts and i know i can't just turn on progressive taxi online :) I know it must seem a very trivial matter to you veteran Vatsim flyers.I can start the PMDG 747 and MD-11 from a cold and dark state fly a valid flight plan from here to there and land using the ILS etc and i think i am following the charts ok using sids and stars I'm not to confident with the comms but im sure with practice that will come. So the point i'm trying to make is would it be ok to fly on Vatsim servers at this sort of skill level? remembering the taxi issue. If that makes any sense? Phil Brewer.
