November 24, 200916 yr I am getting wierd texture deviations on the Airbus model (A318-321). I have the 737 PIC which does not have a similar issue, but its likely one has nothing to do with the other. Anyhow, at night the wing(s), alerions and left rear PX door all seem to be psuedo illuminated but during the day there is nothing wrong with the texures. I would have originally thought this had do with a reapint I installed but its on the base model as well. I have tried the usual, uninstalling, reinstalling the aircraft this also included remvoing it from the FSX.cfg files and accepting all files as trusted all over again messing with the graphic sliders ect. I contacted Wilco and got the generic reference to the FAQ's, not entirely odd for them to respond this way so not much help from them. I have also been to the unofficial feelthere fourm for help and was told this problem has never been reported. Just wondering if anyone has ever experienced this before and or has any clue as to why this might be happening. I have attached four pictures, two during the day and two during the night to illustrate what I described above. Also, Wilco support did suggest turning off the DirectX 10 preivew, but I am under the impression that this option is not avialiable in WinXP or am I wrong here? I am running WINXP pro, 32bit and have SP1 & SP2 installed with V2005 also (i think, not sure how to check that). Thanks in advance for any help and effort,Tim
November 24, 200916 yr You're not the only one getting wierd textures on the feelThere Airbus Volume 1. You mention the wings and passenger door but the pedestal in the VC also has poorly painted night textures. If it's any consolation the Airbus Volume 2 is a little better, and both are reasonable performers if you can get over the minor glitches.Wilco support is renowned for those FAQ redirections, and you might find feelThere's unofficial support forum more helpful. You're right about DX10 and WinXP, DX10 is a Vista API. November 24, 200916 yr Mike, Thanks for your reply. You are right about the VC textures on the pedastal, I failed to mention that originally. I did however come up with a fix today that works with a catch.I loaded the FS9 version into a dummy folder within FSX. My first attemp to fix the problem was try to replace the specific wings textures ect into the FSX models. This did not work as the same night texture anomolies appeared. Next I went to the FS9 models renamed each one in the CFG file e.g. (FS9 FeelThere A320 ect.) This allowed them to show up in the aircraft menu. Next to make the panel work you have to merge the FSX panel into the FS9 panel. Close FSX, restart FSX accept the gagues file when it asks, went to free flight at night, and BAM!! It works. Even the pedastal appears as it should. I executed a full auto land and manual landing with no wierd behavior and everything from sounds to clicking every button on every panel works. Also the landing light and logo lights are much better on the FS9 version than on the FSX version which pleases me as I was looking for a fix to that as well. Now heres the catch, you will not have a cabin view or F/O view in the virtual cockpit. I can live with this until a suitable (if ever) fix is released. I don't mind not having the cabin view or the F/O view so long as I have a VC view I am fine. I can fly the FSX version during the day time hours and use the other views if I really ever decide to use them. Hope this helps anyone else who has the same problem. I really couldn't think of anything else to do and the night textures really bugged the crap out of me. I just couldn't stand taking screen shots with a wing lit up like there was some phantom light in the night shining on that specific part of the aircraft. For the money spent, you would think this is something that could be fixed. Regarding the Wilco support, its the second time they have sent back an email with the same response. I even sent them my system specs and they still sent out a reply reffering to the DirectX 10 preview. I wonder if they really have anyone who reads the reaquests for support or if they are just hitting an auto response button 12 hours later to make it look like someone is actually working there. Just bugs the living crap out of me that a company will take your money and offer no support on a product they offer. But that seems to be the norm these days. Tim
November 25, 200916 yr Well done on your successful investigation of the night textures. It's amazing what you can cobble together in this sim, and there's no end of tinkering with it if you have the time and inclination. You may also consider making a note of your method in the Tips and Tricks forum where others looking for a fix can find it again. It's too bad about the support Wilco offer. The only real solution is to give them a miss and save your money. Mike Beckwith
November 25, 200916 yr Mike,Thanks! I have considered making a tutorial if it can be called that to fix this. I am sure this problem is not unique to only me. I did give Wilco a reply to the support they gave and hopefully I will get a response.Tim

One question:"Next to make the panel work you have to merge the FSX panel into the FS9 panel."How did you do this? I assume that you are using the VC in FSX?Thanks, Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. November 25, 200916 yr Hi Tim,This is very interesting. One question:"Next to make the panel work you have to merge the FSX panel into the FS9 panel."How did you do this? I assume that you are using the VC in FSX?Thanks, Bruce.Bruce,Merging the panel was actually quite simple. I simply deleted the panel folder for each FS9 aircraft, then copy and pasted the panel folder from each of the FSX versions. Now this is important you must do this for each aircraft. You have to go to the aircraft menu, select the FS9 version of the aircraft (A318 through A321) and wait for the pop up window that asks you to accept the gauges file (GAU) as trusted software. Once you do this restart FSX, go back pick the aircraft of your choice and fly! One note on accepting the gauges file as trusted software, for each of the 319 and 320 versions you may only have to accpet the gauges files once, for example if you pick the A319IAE model and accept its file, this will probably accept the gauge for the other two versions (A319 CFM and A319CJ). Same applies for the A320 & A321 models IAE and CFM. I however accepted the file one by one for each aircraft to ensure they would work properly. As I noted in my post above when I found out the fix worked each aircraft flew without a problem and everything worked as it would normally. However, there is still a texture problem on the pedastal when in 2D mode if you select that window, however it doesnt bother as its inside the aircraft and not visible on the exterior texture.Hope this helps!TimDid they ever manage to fix the black cockpit windows in FSX external view?DavidDavid,I don't know about that, I have never seen it on any of mine. I can see both pilots from the external view on every aircraft.Tim

I actually installed the FT Airbus Vol 1 series into FS9 last night to see what the textures looked like and they are a big improvement- presumably from trying to morph FS9 stuff to FSX. I would leave it there and just fly this in FS9 but the FS9 world looks almost like "2D" (which both sims actually are, of course) compared with FSX- although the performance in FS9 is astounding on my rig :)Thanks again, looking forward to trying this tonight. Have you tried creating any camera views in the FS9 aircraft.cfg file yet? I might try that too. Thanks, Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
November 25, 200916 yr Bruce, No problem glad I could help. I wish I had a rig that was able to handle higher frame rates, textures and graphics ect. As for now I am simply running FSX on a laptop with a very basic video card. I am exploring the world of building my own computer; now that the kids are getting older they like computer games as well. I am hoping to have it built by mid next year if possible. As for creating camera views, I have not even considered doing that. I am by no means a computer wiz or technichal genius as I am actually fairly new to flying sims. I actually have more time in a real airbus simulator and 737-400 simulator than I do in a C-172; I am trying to get my PPL and Instrument ratings.Let me know how the camera views come out if you try it. I wouldn't mind learning how to do that as well.Tim

I do have some time in the UA B763 sim (pre 9/11), aren't they something else?Have you tried the AirSimmer A320 in FS9 yet? It's really nice, although a little buggy yet, but the VC visulas are something else! Just waiting for an FSX release :)Thanks, Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
