10.50 RC3 is available
Thanks for the heads up. Haven't flown X-Plane in a while, and thought I'd do a hop in the US for a change. Was a bit dismayed that both arr/dest airports (KJFK-KIAG) were completely devoid of buildings! I was somehow under the impression the most major terminals in 10.50 now had some semblance of an airport from the gateway?
- FSL A320 now generally available
- X-Plane 10.50 RC2 released

It looks like they're using the Carenado CT206H StationAir for this particular video.

LR teasing... (XP11 perhaps ?) Is it me or do the clouds look better? P.S. Thanks to http://www.x-plained.com for the heads up.

980ti SLI or 1080?
deetee replied to jay281's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcFor some AAA titles that is certainly the case, but in the context of P3D I don't believe SLI represents good value. Just my 2c as a former SLI owner. ;-)

980ti SLI or 1080?
deetee replied to jay281's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcThe extra 980Ti won't make much if any difference to frames; I had two in SLI and ended up selling one. Also consider the additional power consumption, and note that significantly more heat will be generated inside your case by having two cards very close together. The 1080 will use less of power than one 980Ti and run cooler.

SkyMaxx Pro V3.1.1 is out
The first thing I usually do after installing SMP is to increase the draw distance, otherwise I get the "in the middle of a flock of sheep" effect at high altitude. Once I see some positive reviews of RWC I may buy - it is out as I write in fact! http://www.x-aviation.com/catalog/product_info.php/real-weather-connector-p-120

Prepar3D and new 1440p monitor
I have the PG279Q with 2x GTX980Ti and P3D runs great (as does everything else). Some games will max out at 165Hz but P3D is too CPU limited to really exploit the graphics hardware. I can run The Division on ultra settings and get 80-90Hz so there is real value there for well optimised titles. Maybe the upcoming Dovetail FS will scale better with modern hardware?

JARDesign Airbus A340. That's Right!
Nothing wrong with side projects, in fact Eugeny seems to have a new one every month! He certainly has no shortage of talent as a graphical artist and likes to innovate with new ideas in X-Plane. There are though legitimate systems issues (quite often the same exist on both the A320 and A330) that he doesn't seem interested in addressing, which is a real shame. The Qpac systems are more faithful to the original but lack the eye candy - maybe they should get together lol. It does leave a bit of a nasty taste in the mouth, and I'm sorry to say that instead of investing in more X-Plane airliners I will vote with my wallet and grab the FS Labs A320 when it comes out.

JARDesign Airbus A340. That's Right!
Aaargh.... what a shame, he is going down the Flightfactor road of churning out one pay-ware after another instead of dealing with his A320/A330 systems which are in dire need of improvement and refinement. This kind of philosophy just gives X-Plane a bad name as a systems-light platform, whose last best hope is IXEG.

American Truck Simulator
Wow this is exactly the opposite to what I did. Just up the scaling to 400%, it makes a big difference. On my 2560x1440 monitor 300% scaling is enough for great image quality. I just leave everything else in the Nvidia CP at default.

American Truck Simulator
Gents try upping the Scaling to 300 or 400% in the graphics options, that will deal with the shimmer etc. To map a G27 H-Shifter (I have a TM wheel/shifter but the principle is the same), you need to map each gear position (like a button) 1-6 and R. Set to Range and use a button of your choice for shifter toggle 1, to be able to smoothly switch between gear ranges 1-6 and 7-10. It took me a while to work it out, there's plenty of help out there if you Google for it, but try this: http://www.eurotrucksimulator2.com/input_config.php

DTG : Fs 64 bit this year - How will LM react ?
There is absolutely NO reason to think we won't be able to buy add-ons for DFS the same way we do today for FSX and P3D. Like for FSX:SE there will surely be a number available also on Steam. No reason why Dovetail would change that for DFS, to do otherwise would be commercial suicide anyway. They know how the flight sim market works and will want people to switch over development to DFS.

Dovetail Games Direction
Well I am happy that the FS series is continuing through DTG. A few years back the bottom dropped out of a lot of people's world when MS announced the death of FS11, yet here we are with what is effectively FS11 arriving in a few months. Surely that's cause for celebration? There's no reason to suspect that DTG will stifle the add-on market, as they know well how the FS world works. I think the market will work pretty much how it does with FSX:SE, with DTG pushing some stuff through Steam for casual users, and the hardcore folks will continue to buy as they do today through the usual online distributers and developers. DTG are doing the same for flight simmers as what they did for MS train simmers; they effectively produced a Train Simulator 2 from the ashes of Kuju and called it Rail Simulator, and still going today with TS 2016. They certainly haven't stifled that market as 3PDs develop routes and rolling stock and sell them how they like (freeware is still there too).

PF3 ATC Program thoughts
Is there a gate-to-gate tutorial for dummies (like me) who can't get their heads round PF3? The manual seems comprehensive but I don't see any "sample flight" section.

My new Skylake/SLI simming/gaming computer
deetee replied to TheFlightSimGuy's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcNice pics - I have recently equipped myself with the same CPU + motherboard + graphics cards as you. X-Plane runs great (as do all my games etc) but P3D runs like a pig. Go figure!

nVidia GS1000 Pascal series...2016 1Q....BRING IT ON!
deetee replied to Sesquashtoo's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcI think the future bottleneck will be the software, it's getting to be a bit like that now. Apps like FSX/P3D that are 32-bit will see little benefit (they are already bursting at the VAS seams), and even those like X-Plane that are 64-bit but run on a wheezy old OpenGL graphics standard will not see much in performance gain. Even something as established as SLI is beyond them (although I believe P3D can benefit from that a little).

980 TI Anti Aliasing
I bought this puppy a few weeks back: https://www.asus.com/us/Monitors/ROG-SWIFT-PG279Q/ 1440p and G-Sync which works brilliantly. Very pleased with it so far!

980 TI Anti Aliasing
Never really noticed shimmering to be honest, I was just referring to jaggies and overall image quality. You could harness DSR on your new build to fake a higher resolution to see if your shimmering diminishes, that might help you ascertain the need for more pixels before laying out any cash on a new monitor.
-
980 TI Anti Aliasing
I think it is important to consider monitor resolution at this point, as a higher pixel count will alleviate the need for high level AA and DSR. A GTX980Ti will handle a 2560 x 1440 monitor with ease, and even up to 4K. Case in point: I recently upgraded from a 1980 x 1080 device to a 2560 x 1440 and discovered that 4 x MSAA is more than sufficient to show a very clean jaggy-free P3D. The advantage of real pixels over DSR is enormous, a lower resolution will exhibit an inherent graininess you will never eliminate without adding more pixels.
