Lot's of big problems qwith Quality Wings 757 !

Featured Replies

Bought this tonight and first impressions are very frustrating and disappointing. Seems absoluitely bug-ridden from my first flight in FS9;- I don't mind that not many overhead systems are modelled but those that are often don't work properly! APU logic is all off.. it keeps defaulting to OFF on every mouse click. (but this is just a minor one... read on!),- Engine start erratic, works cometimes, other times engine 2 will not start unless you give in and press CTRL+E,- BUT HERE'S THE REAL PROBLEMS; The A/P is absoluitely crazy on this plane! No TOGA mode on the ground, so on take-off all I was able to select of the FD was HDG SEL, nothnig else would activate! Here's the real bad news; you have to activate the AP to get any of the modes to work! So forget flying the flightg director for your departure! Unless something went badly wrong on my system, the VNAV was also completely loco, it held 240 kts all the way up to the selected altitude, never achieved 250 kts below 10,000, and above 10,000 never accelerated above 240 kts ! ......so I tried FL CH .... exactly the same !!! With FL CH selected and 310 knts set in the speed window, the plane stubbornly held 240 knts, it then started accelerating at a snails pace and took 14 minutes to get from 240 knts up to 300 knots, by which time we'd reached altitude! When the SPD mode is set to MACH, the plane cannot hold the Mach speed as the magenta mark on the speed tape still shows the KIAS, not Mach !The FMC is also missing many standard, default FS airports! I was do fed up of my EGPF-EGLL flight, that I attempted to land half way at EGSY (which is in FS9), but the airport is not in the database. I landed there visually, and loaded a flight plan from EGSY to EGLL in the FS Planner. When I attempted to "Load ATC plan" in teh Quality Wings 757, I got a .... wait for it... CTD !!!!!Awww man..... I don't like 'Lite' planes but at least they generally tend to do what you tell them to do..... The AP on this airplane is the worst I've seen since the Wilco 777 ...... Also, I done some 'Direct To' 's in the FMC, but the magenta line on the EHSI does not show the direct course, and the aircraft (in LNAV) just veers off in the wrong direction.Lot's of other problems (like awful, awful 'click' sounds on the overhead, as well as some nice things like good hand-flying dynamics and nice engine sounds but I'm too tired and disappointed to type any more !Guys, sorry but this should not have been released like this ! I really regret passing my hard earned

Tried another flight and I'm afraid it only confirmed the bad news ........ the only modes you can set on the flight director are HDG SEL and VS ....... that's it ..... you cannot fly LNAV, VNAV, FLCH or in fact any other mode on the Flight Director on this add-on.....and as above, no TOGA mode to fly on the FD on take-off ....... And I'm sorry to say but when you do select VNAV or FL CH, you'll wish you hadn't! This time VNAV stuck to 216 kts like glue! I think this was because 216 knts was the speed I engaged the AP at ?!?! I switched to FL CH and selected a higher speed but again the 757 took an age to accelerate. There is something badly wrong with the code that is governing FS default vertical speed, to achieve 'speed by pitch' ....... When in VNAV or FL CH, you can see the VS wheel on the MCP whirring around like crazy (which is totally unrealistic BTW) trying to set a VS to achieve a certain speed whether in VNAV or FL CH but it just doesn't work.Very sad as the sounds are nice and the hand-flying dynamics are very nice. The VC isn't really any better than the LDS 767 IMHO, but it's certainly no worse. But it's the functions and particularly the AP that are badly letting this add-on down at this point.People scathed the Airsimmer A320 on release for it's 'bugs', but I found it infinately more usable than this add-on, which I would never dream of attempting to fly again with it's current limitations. This is currently just eye candy and a 'floor the throttles and waggle the flight surfaces' add-on IMHO ........ The AP and FD need urgent attention. :(

Hello,I readed this on a french forum (Google translation)

So I tested the FMC for a Transatlantic KPHL-EBBR (Brussels-Philadelphia) and I'm pretty happy with regard to the road because I could go all the way without any problems including some NAT (Form 4550N. ..). Next Page FIX exists and is operational! at FPS has nothing to say it is perfect too! Good afternoon it's not like Leveld but as good or better than the CS

Did you report this in the developer's support forum? Any response?Jim Harnes

You should probably post some of these (in a possibly lighter tone?) in their Support Forum - at least they are trying to help people fix their problems quite quickly and if not, they're planning a SP1 to address and improve upon as many issues and non-functionalities as possible. I can't say I've really experienced most of your issues yet and I've done a handful of flights in it already. I realize you're probably just trying to give people a heads up but honestly, post in the support forum too so they can at least get a better understanding of what is going wrong so they can fix it and make it better for the people that don't want to completely throw the product away and give up on it. They're trying their best with the support issues, at least that's a plus along with the excellent external model, flight dynamics, virtual cockpit (aside from the same non-functioning items as the 2d panel) and 2d panel graphics, and sounds. I can't think of many places that have met their quality and speed of support thus far.I have noticed there has been a diverse amount of success and errors amongst everyone that's purchased it so far. I guess I'm in the luckier category? Personally, I read through the pre-release manual a long time ago and knew exactly what to expect - I think many people are just mistaking what this add-on is meant to do, it's not supposed to be Level-D/PMDG, etc., although I do understand that what they do simulate should be accurate, so I can understand some of your points on that one.

EGSY is Sheffield City airport that was closed in April 2008. It's runway was under 4,000ft long so a 757 would never be able to get in or out of there anyway. That is very likely why that airport was not in the nav database and gave you a CTD when you tried to use it later.

Ok, so appreciate why EGSY wasn't in the database, that's fair enough, but a CTD is not an acceptable result of trying to put an invalid airport code into te FMC - it should be generating a message in the FMC, not killing FS9 completely! Also, the AP/FD issues still stand - how anyone can claim this add-on is anywhere approaching realistic or 'complex' when you can't use the flight director for anything other than following HDG and VS mode is beyond me!I mean, you can't even fly LNAV on the FD, you have to engage the AP first !This is sub-CLS for me ..... I'm no fan of CLS but at least they generally do as you'd expect.

Thanks for your comments, and I accept your feedback on taking the issues to the support forum 'in a lighter tone' (although I didn't think I was rude, just audibly disappointed!).My experiences with these problems are wholly is FS9 to date (haven't tested FSX version yet). can you confirm that you're able to pre-select LNAV and VNAV mode on the Flight Director (before engaging the AP), and if so are you using FS9 or FSX version? Thanks,
