How hard would it have been.

Simple question, how hard would it have been to make the 737 for FS9 work in FSX. I know your making the NGX but its still at least a year away. Could with a little work done to it have been a possibility.

Ian,As PMDG always repeats: "the 737 is a FS2002 product with xxx years on its back..." (Wonderful product anyway...and my favourite one).Everybody wants a renewed NG with:- Inertial Reference Units- Vertical Situation Display- Head Up Display- A more complete and operative FMC- Enhanced VNAV behaviour...etcPerhaps those features could have been added to the existing FS9 version, but I don't know if it could be easy (or possible at all) make it work in FSX.The fact is that they ARE working now in a NEW FSX version, and the possibilities of having a FS9 version are fewer and fewer...

At the risk of being flamed, I just wish we could get a progress report of some kind. I know we don't ask for release dates- I am a developer myself, so I know how those questions feel. Its just, with them saying "2010", we all know that could be Jan 1st, or Dec 31st. Even if it was one screenshot, I'd be happy to at least see it :(And yes, before anyone says it, I know "PMDG will say something when they want to say something", and "they are doing this as a hobby", and "we shouldn't nag on them to release this aircraft". But we all wish we could, for ourselves, make an educated guess as to when we MIGHT see a release :(At least with a progress report (I don't care if they haven't started), I can tell myself "Ok, it'll be closer to Q1 2010" or not. :(EDIT: Who wants to pull up a chair with me and watch the newbies start a riot on January 2nd when they see the 737X isn't released? :(EDIT 2: Terribly sorry Ian, I didn't even post anything in relation to your question!

I don't think so. Someone correct me if I am wrong here, and I might be, but as far as I know, the old 737 was developed for FS2002, and just worked in FS2004 because of the compatibility that FS9 had with FS2002 aircraft? Don't quote me on that though. In any case, it was developed for older sims (FS2002/FS9), and with FSX, Microsoft changed a lot of the inner workings of the simulator. As we all know, some FS9 aircraft work in FSX, some don't, and some are in between, with varying degrees of success. There's not much one can do to the old 737 to "make it work"...you'd essentially be re-making the entire aircraft, which is what they are doing anyway.Nevertheless, I'll be buying the jet as soon as it's out..as long as its not 55 Euros like the 747 was at one time?

Nice story. The only you should be flamed for is NOT SIGNING YOUR NAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!taker easy buddy, welcome to the forum.

Maybe my last reply got deleted or I forgot to hit the "reply" button. It is possible to put the 737 in FSX. I've seen it done. Haven't tried it myself since I'm not too much of a FSX user, but I do know for a fact that it's possible.AaronPS: If this DID get deleted originally, let me know if you're going to delete it again so I don't end up doing something like this again.

It is not possible to move it to FSX. PMDG has stated this as well as others have tried and it hasn't worked.

Nope, it's been done. A friend of mine has done it. I'm pretty sure the only things that don't work is the load manager and the engine starters. At least it flies.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GlaFsPvHnAAaron Penner

I also believe some of the FMS, autopilot and fuel system functions have issues. So I guess it comes down to the definition of "working" :(

Yeah, notice there's no shots of the main panel, FMS etc in that video.Simply put, we chose not to update it yet again, we've wanted to redo the plane for years and that's what we're doing. The new one will be a million times better, trust me.
