December 11, 200916 yr I'm sure this has been discussed before but I am not too proficient at the search function just yet.I am almost certain this has to do with my graphics card so this is why I will post this here. The textures on my and the AI's aircraft shimmer horribly in addition to airport building textures. I don't know if this is an AA issue but I have that set to 4xS in nHancer and it is indeed working (at least to some degree) since the edges of applicable models are smooth and not jagged. I have AS set to 4x and all textures remain sharp and not blurry except for those that shimmer which become illegible. Overall resolution is set to 1280x1024 simply because I have not gotten around to forcing a custom 4:3 resolution on my widescreen monitor just yet, I plan on getting that up to 1400x1050. Video card drivers are whatever the latest version is from nVidia. So my question then is how can I reduce the texture shimmering on the aircraft and if possible the airport buildings? I would greatly appreciate and help and thank you in advance.
December 11, 200916 yr First, if you have an LCD...dont run it in anything but native resolution.2nd, do you have your LOD Bias clamped? What Mip map settings are you running? Its mostly impossible to get rid of all shimmering, so don't get too attached to that idea. - Red E8500 @ 4.1 | EVGA 275GTX (overclocked) | 2x2GB Mushkin Enhanced Redline @ 1066 | Samsung 24inch LCD @ 1920x1080 |

Why do you say do not run at anything except native resolution thought (purely out of curiosity)? Also in nHancer, LOD Bias is set to Clamp and the actual value is 0.00 but Clamp overrides that anyways I assume. Mip Mapping is set to 8 in the sim and I do have Force Mip Maps enabled in nHancer.
December 12, 200916 yr Running LCDs outside of their native resolution causes the display controller to "scale" (stretch) the image to fit your screen. This causes a noticeable blurring effect.
December 12, 200916 yr I've also had shimmering problems and found going back to an earlier driver (185.85) worked. If you try it, be sure to erase all traces of your current driver (using driver cleaner).
