FL2170

Featured Replies

Hi, I haven't read about this before but maybe others have/had the some observation.I don't know what started it but I am seeing ATC directing AI aircraft to FL2170. ATC starts giving clearance to FL440, shortly after FL550, then FL720 etc. Then at a given moment it should be FL2170 which of course is never reached and so ATC keeps urging the AI aircraft to increase climb.Ok one would think there must be a mistake in the flightplan. But there isn't. The flightplan lists the correct altitude. At first this would happen to KLM flights. But no, again, the flightplans are ok. Even a search on '2170' doesn't have a hit in the flightplan. But then the other day it suddenly was Transavia, another Dutch airline, but I don't see the connection. Even different FP's. It is annoying since ATC keeps telling the AI to expedite climb, otherwise I wouldn't really care.Only commonality I have found so far is that it happens when I fly the PMDG MD-11. But since I fly this plane frequently, I am not sure if there is a connection. Also, it only happens flying in-or outbound of Amsterdam. I don't observe it during flights anywhere else in the world. And it only is one flight that is bugged obviously.Well, curious if anybody has a similar experience and if we can crack this riddle. Look forward to your replies! Thanks,Menno

Hi Menno,There may be a corrupt figure in your flight plans, it could be a much larger number than 2170. I have noticed that Traffic Tools does some odd mathematics on numbers that are out of its normal range and whilst your flightplans.txt may not have 2170, that may be what comes out in the bgl file when it is compiled. If you still can't find anything amiss, I would think the next best thing to do would be to reinstall the KLM and Transavia flight plans and see if that solves it. The only other thing I can think of is perhaps some mesh with a very serious altitude error that is causing ATC to tell planes to fly over it. If it was a very tall but small area spike you might not notice its there.John

Hi,What kind of AI aircraft receive this directions? If it is a Space Shuttle it would be perfectly normal....Sorry, I couldn't resist :(
