December 19, 200916 yr Whats more frustarting then fsx crashing mid flight, my fsx crashed and a message saying a fatal error has occured and one about data execution prevention came up.Any workaround?ThanksJosh Katz
December 19, 200916 yr Hey Josh,It's impossible for anyone to correctly tell you why your fsx crashed. A fatal error has occured message doesn't say anything to anyone what caused it, even if you posted a trillion screenshots. Is this happening Every time you run FSX? When did it start? What do you think could have triggered it? What OS are you running? Etc.. etc... When I first read this I actually thought it was a joke. You need to provide a lot more info then that. Try this, Do a fresh reboot, give your comp adequate time to fully start and come to idol, run fsx without anything else running. If you then get the same error then you may have to reinstall or look at your event logs. Normally "A Fatal Error has occured message" will write something to the event logs, something you might be able to then search for via google or the microsoft link it will provide. As for the data execution prevention, you can shut that off if you want but I would get yourself up to speed with what it does first. This site will explain what it is and how to shut it off.http://ask-leo.com/how_do_i_turn_off_data_...ion_errors.html i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
December 20, 200916 yr Hello, I too have had fatal errors while flying both the MD-11 and the PMDG 747. They seem to happen randomly during flight. It's driving me absolutely mad at first I thought that it may be a random glitch, but I'm not sure anymore. The latest occured as I was climbing out of Hawaii and was switching panels. Any comments will be greatly appreciated. December 20, 200916 yr Andrew, I wouldn't have thought of that, I will give it a try and report back after my next flight.TanksAndreas Elesky
December 26, 200916 yr Andreas, I had the same problem and I have fixed it by deleting the CFG file and allowing FSX to rebuild a new one.AndrewAndrew, Thanks for the tip, that seemed to have fixed the issue.TanksAndy
December 26, 200916 yr Whats more frustarting then fsx crashing mid flight, my fsx crashed and a message saying a fatal error has occured and one about data execution prevention came up.Any workaround?I had crashes because of a problem in the Visual Studio 2005 redistributables... it seems, that I was able to solve that by installing the latest patch for this (KB961894). Maybe this helps...Rudolf
December 26, 200916 yr Andrew,Thanks for the tip, that seemed to have fixed the issue.TanksAndyNo worries. I dont know what rebuilding the CFG file does, but it seems to rectify a lot of the issues that come up in FSX. I found that after doing this my FPS also increased. Again I really dont know why. January 26, 201016 yr Hi Andrew, I am having the same problems with my pmdg 747X on fsx. What CFG file should I delete to let FSX rebuild?Stephen O'Connell
January 26, 201016 yr Hi Andrew, I am having the same problems with my pmdg 747X on fsx. What CFG file should I delete to let FSX rebuild?Stephen O'ConnellHi Stephen - Andrew was talking about deleting the fsx.cfg file. In XP it can be found in "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX" and in Vista it can be found in Users\[uSER]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX" simply start FSX and redo your settings. I have made screenshots of my settings for quick reference as I rebuild my .cfg a few times a year. For each addon you will be required to rerun the .dll once again just like you did when you first insatlled them.It is quite painless but it does clear some problems up with FSX as it wipes the slate clean so to speak. Good luck. \Robert Hamlich/

January 28, 201016 yr Just to add to this, you can also have FSX rebuild all of its files, such as Control.xml and FSX.cfg by holding CTRL+Shift while loading FSX. Everything will be rebuilt and will take a minute to do so, just keep holding down those buttons until you start to get prompted again to allow your specific pmdg.dlls to be trusted. At that point FSX has finished and you can let go of the two buttons. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
