Lining up lightposts in sbuilderx

Featured Replies

Hi,How would I go about creating a line type where the I define the object place. For example, I could put down a line in Sbuilderx along a highway, and it would place lightposts, spaced evenly, and lined up against the line. How do I create this, determine the spacing in between, heading of the objects in relation to the line, etc....Thanks!Marc

Hello Marc,You need to use the latest version of SBuilderX, 3.13. I am not really sure where Luis has placed it, but it must be somewhere on the PTSim forum and perhaps in Arno's website. Although I wish that he would place it in the Avsim library as well.Anyway, the new version includes a new type of line, Lines of Objects. Simply draw the line, making sure to place a point at each location where you desire the object, then just select the object from the list. You can also set the orientation of the object.Best regards.Luis

Writing of SBX, does anyone have a tip on how to draw a line with a smooth radius curve?scott s..

Sure, but when you try to freehand draw a curve (such as in a road) it is very hard to get it looking good. To get a good appearance you need point spaced pretty closely, which makes it difficult to align as you go. One thing I can do is my GIS software will draw a vector arc of user-set radius, and export that in a shapefile that can be patched into a road line vector, but that's a lot of work if you are doing many roads (a recent project had many traffic circles and they look awful hand drawn.scott s..
