December 27, 200916 yr Good afternoon Folks, with my MD11 I'd Like to do the real Flight "Amsterdam Schipol - St. Maarten Princess Juliana Intl."I've unfoortunately several difficulties in entering the approach data in FMC.As You can see in this photos, the last waypoint before the airport is ANU. So, as i usually do, i click on it. The second photo is the window that appears. So i click on star, and here (After watching different charts) i'm not able to do nothing! I only know that i'd like to land on runway 10 (the famous one)Someone can tell my the exactly things to do, and insert in the FMC for a great approach and landing?Thank you so much in advanceHappy Holidays to everyone Stefano Fornasiero
December 27, 200916 yr I'm not sure if this will help but try inputting RWY10 first, then chose a STAR. I usually do it in that order and it works fine. Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
December 27, 200916 yr Firstly you should end your flightplan route to MNOLO, TRNKY or PJM instead of ANU when flying from EHAM.Then if you look the charts there is arrival available from MNOLO and TRNKY (ULUBA 1 arrival). If flying to PJM then you should fly VOR X approach.
December 27, 200916 yr I've flown the MD-11 to TNCM several times. You need to select the RNAV 10 approach first than the STAR. The RNAV 10 is basically a VOR approach which means you will be using the VOR needle for maintaining runway alignment, but the autopilot will be off and your will be flying hands on. Study your route when entering the STARS so you know which one to input. Each STAR is usually meant for approaching TNCM from a specific direction and the IAP is usually one of the final waypoints on your initial route. If you print out some STAR charts off the internet you will be able to get a good idea of which STAR to use. The weather there is usually perfect year round so there is no need for an ILS. However, you will never find any appraoch in the US where beach goers could throw a football into an approaching 747's engine. The beach is awesome but I think the sand behind the threshhold should be fenced off for everyones safety. David J.
