Reality GNS 530 WAAS XP

Featured Replies

While the things all of you say may be true, I stand by my original post. I remember following the RXP forum when the GNS WAAS units were first introduced some time ago. There were more than a few posts--some verging well into the anger category--when it was found that the WAAS did not couple to the auto pilot and it was necessary to hand fly the descent profiles for landing.
Well I'll have to disagree once again with your original post. This is a "true" waas system. Just because fs's autopilot does not support it does not make it invalid.I realize you are not expressing anger, butto those who do - If the product does not meet one's expectations, don't get it. Secondly, as Ed and a few others have pointed out-it is a limitation of fs, so why would anyone direct anger towards this product when it is not responsible for this limitation?Third, for me this this is one of the most useful products for fs. I have yet to fly a gps Waas enabled plane (most can't afford it) and this product allows me to experience and practice what it all about. There is nothing more satisfying than flying a good hand flown approach, and having the ability to experience this new technology on a desktop sim should be viewed as a privilege, as are many of the fine add ins we have access to.

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

Sheesh, some of you guys are touchy. Thanks to trisager though. Incidentally, I have used and enjoyed the GNS530 WAAS since the day it was released onto the market.

Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.

Having just installed this on Win7 64bit and experienced a completely frozen sim, I searched for the solution and found this on the RXP website. On some system, it is recommended to disable visual themes for the FS9/X program for the solution to run. Go to the Flight Simulator folder, right click on FS9.exe or FSX.exe (or your shortcut to it), select properties, click the compatibility tab, disable Visual Themes checkbox. All is well now.John
