December 31, 200916 yr Here's your first question. I upgraded to WIN 7 and had to rebuild many files including FS9. I've done everything but throw the computer out the window and can't get Rwy12/object placer to work. The main Rwy 12 file is separate in my C:\ files. Library 1 FOLDER was placed in FS9>addon scenery. Library 2 & 3 scenery and texture FILES were placed in FS9>addon scenery>scenery and FS>addon scenery>texture and are visible when I open the folders. Is the problem with WIN 7 or what? As far as object placer, I'm going by the book when trying to add static items. Thanx for any help you can give me. Tom F

Does the RWY12 program not come up at all or.............?Did you install the RWY12 program and libraries by following the FAQ document (which I wrote) ?And during all of this did you turn off UAC - User Account Control - so Win 7 would allow any changes and edits to be recognized?More details please and perhaps we can solve the problem.
December 31, 200916 yr Author RWY12 comes up - object placer comes up.....Files loaded and viewable as stated above. Never had a problem with UAC. Should I turn it off and try the program again?

Should I turn it off and try the program again?Ok - RWY12 comes up - what does not work then? Can you select an object to place and sync it with FS2004 to get the coordinates? If so can you then create the bgl file?More details please.
December 31, 200916 yr If your FS9 is under a Program Files folder and you wish to keep UAC on create a shortcut to object placer and then set the shortcut property to run as an admin. In addition make sure you have admin rights. I am not sure if in Win 7 disabling UAC in effect totally eliminates the need for the admin rights as it did for Vista.See what happens and note any error. It could be that the final compilation is not happening. As I recall it uses FSUIPC and you should get the latest version from http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html
December 31, 200916 yr Author Ok - RWY12 comes up - what does not work then? Can you select an object to place and sync it with FS2004 to get the coordinates? If so can you then create the bgl file?More details please.Like I said, RWY12 runs, object placer runs. I get and can find bgl & the other file. It syncs with 2004 to get coordinates. I can see the files in static objects library>scenry. I can see my texture files.

I can see the files in static objects library>scenry. I can see my texture files. So what is it then that is not working? Are you able to create a bgl with the object(s) you have selected? Is it just not displaying when you restart FS2004?I assume you did activate (add) your Static Objects Library entry in the Scenery Library dialogue.Sorry to appear dense but so far you really have not indicated what is not working.
December 31, 200916 yr Author OK, reference my original post....all files are where they belong. I have tons of bgl and xml files. They all have data....Rwy12 and libraries were installled word for word by the install instructions you wrote. UAC is off.....I don't see any static objects after using object placer, saving, generating, exiting, closing FS9, reloading FS9. After FS9 restart I have no added static objects showing.

None of them should have been put directly into the scenery and texture subfolders of your addon scenery entry.Once that has been corrected (if you need to) my next question would be where are you saving the bgl with the objects you select to? It must go into an active scenery subfolder such as addon scenery/scenery. If in doubt, write down the name you gave it and let windows search for it.If what you created was saved to an active scenery subfolder, when you restarted FS you should have seen the "rebuilding indexes" dialogue during loading. If you did not see that, then your file was not saved to an active scenery subfolder. Please double check the FAQ document again - it sounds as if you missed one or more important step.

January 1, 201016 yr Author Hyde.bgl is in addonscenery/scenery. Object placer insists on saving it elsewhere. I give up. This has beaten me down for two days. Thanks for your time sir.
January 1, 201016 yr Hyde.bgl is in addonscenery/scenery. Object placer insists on saving it elsewhere. I give up. This has beaten me down for two days. Thanks for your time sir. When you save your bgl you have the option to tell it where to save it. If memory serves there is a box near the top of the screen and a browse button so you can browse to where you wish to place it.If you wish to, you can e-mail me directly for some one on one help. My address is opaflightsimaddict at verizon dot net
January 1, 201016 yr Author yes, you can save the xml file where you want..... do a "save as".... but you have no choice when you "generate scenery" for the bgl file
January 1, 201016 yr yes, you can save the xml file where you want..... do a "save as".... but you have no choice when you "generate scenery" for the bgl fileCorrect - I just did it and told it to save the xml to my desktop - it dd and then it generated the BGL there also.In fact a little dialogue box comes up informing you of the file name and where it was saved.I could have asked it to save the xml anywhere I wanted. The bgl should then get saved to the same location. It does for me.
