GF100: The Holy Grail of GPU Performance for MSFS

I can't devote any more time to explaining this concept to people that are too stubborn to listen. I've made my point, your "counter-points" aren't even relevant to the discussion as you seem to think any time an FSX dev mentions any sort of graphical task running on the CPU that it means the game is rendered on the CPU. This is just preposterous. Tabs: there are no benchmarks of GF100 other than in Unigine Heaven DX 11 tesselation demo, and Farcry 2. "benchmarks show it is slower in CPU limited games" - you literally just made this up.

Somehow I think we all knew you would take the rope...Funny, The DEV said the CPU is rendering, the term "Software Rendering" which I gave you to look up is the very definition of CPU rendering. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_rendering or http://www.devmaster.net/articles/software...ering/part1.phpHere, put your glasses on, and lets all read it together out load (now we are going to take your milk money):Adam Szofran, ACES: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555738"the more CPU time is diverted from rendering to loading data""This variable determines the amount of CPU time given to loading scenery data as a fraction of the time spent rendering". For example, the default value of 0.33 means that for every 3 milliseconds spent rendering, .....snipEnd of discussion.

This has been an interesting debate. Thanks guys! I guess time will tell. For those corei7 owners out there, which do you think would give you better performance and fluidity in FSX if you had to choose one of the two below?A stock core i7 920 at 2.6ghz with a GTX285 OROverclocked corei7 920 at 3.6-3.8ghz with a GTX 260?

THE CPU DOESN'T RENDER ANYTHING.Stop posting this NONSENSE.Let me explain what's going on here, for those that don't understand and may be confused by your false assumption. You, as a layman, see the syntax "render" in reference to FSX's code and have mistakenly assumed this means the CPU is handling GPU tasks. You. Are. Wrong.

Alpha - the second configuration you've posted will be faster. FSX is still primarily CPU-bound.I think people mis-understand the meaning of the thread title. If you read closely, you'll see that I said GF100 is the ultimate answer as a GPU for FSX, not the end-all-be-all performance upgrade for which people can neglect a fast CPU. You still need the fastest CPU you can afford to get the most out of FSX. Once you have said CPU, you'll want to pair it with the fastest GPU you can afford, and that is going to be GF100 when it is released in March. Due to GF100's revolutionary new architecture, it will provide performance gains that previous graphics cards have been unable to deliver when it comes to FSX. I hope this clears up any confusion.

You are the only one speaking nonsense.I posted you a link to a 3d developing site were the first basic lesson they teach you is CPU rendering and it is described in detail and in contrast to GPU rendering on the very first page.Adam was not speaking at all of the "code" he spoke in exact refference to the CPU and the line in the FSX.cfg file that will effect how much time the CPU spends >Rendering like allmost 100% of Games programed before DX7.Have you ever "coded" anything? Made any add-ons for FS or anygame? Even with the aid of a gui if need be? Have you ever worked with or for ATI or Nvidia or one of their vendors? I understand you try to repair computers for a living, I would suggest you try to keep that job unless you pretend there as well.Good day.
