777 Professional

Featured Replies

Dear Sir, I am lucky enough to be an instructor on the 777-300ER simulator in Sydney, Australia. I have also flown the real 777, so I guess I am not a complete novice. Firstly, sincere congratulations to the team who produced the Just Flight 777 Professional. It is so close to the real thing that I am tempted to use it as a briefing tool prior to taking my students into the sim. I have avoided the temptation, as I'm sure there would be some legal reason to remove my worldly fortune from my clutches for so doing.I have a few queries about this near-perfect product. I get a Master Caution warning during start as the oil pressure is not nearly high enough. I get 4 psi where the real McKoy gets around 35 at light-off. I have never heard the Master Caution during start in the simulator or the aircraft, so was wondering if the file can be 'fiddled' to get higher oil pressure at lower N2.The Vref schedule does not match the aircraft. Max landing weight on the 300ER is 251290 kg or 554000 lbs This would generate a Vref30 of 149k but the FS9 version comes up with a figure higher than that. If I slow down to real-world speed, I get the wing rocking associated with speed too slow. Also if you look at the body attitude from outside, it is far too steep. Just about guarantee a tail-strike every time. I have a problem with the Mach versus IAS at altitude. I suspect this a Microsoft problem as it is the same on all my aircraft. Real figures: Mach 0.84 at FL 330 gives 300.3k IAS. The last one is probably 'pie in the sky' but I'd love to be able to change the Electronic Check List to reflect something I was more used to. Is that user changeable? Well, I'm sure you have a flock of people extremely well qualified, but if not, I would be most happy to keep in touch with any queries anyone may have from time to time. Thanks again, Phil McCONNELL [email protected]

Phil - Unfortunately the creators of the Just Flight 777 Professional simulation ceased operations about 3 years ago. They went by the name of PSS (Phoenix Simulation Software) out of the UK. Fortunately PMDG (Precision Manuals Design Group) are currently producing the 737NG and Bombardier Dash 8 and will follow with the long awaited 777 which is due to be released in late 2010 early 2011. Although no decisions have been made as to what platform(s) it will be made available for it is worth noting their last release, the JS41, was produced solely for FSX.Perhaps it may be worth your while to communicate with PMDG as they may welcome more technical assistance for the new 777 which you seem to be willing to offer. As far as I know Wilco Publications is the only other company which currently provides a 777 for the FS9 platform but I am unaware of its features as I have not purchased that particular model. Their forum is located here. You could send a PM to scoobflight in that forum or alternatively search for scoob here at the Avsim forum and PM him with your questions. The 777 is an incredible aircraft and I stand in awe every time I see it while watching the comings and goings of the commercial airliners at Vancouver International.Best of luck,

I envy your vocation, Phil! Lucky fellow. There's a fix for the landing angle of the PSS 777-300 available - look for a file called pss777-300landingfix at Flightsim.com. I also recommend merging it with the excellent Project Opensky external model, although you lose the functional VC in the process.

John G.

The merge with the POSKY 777 seems to be extraordinarily good, since you do get a beautiful visual model with a very good looking VC. To be honest, it's this merge and this thread that have got me thinking about buying the PSS 777, so I have a 777 in FS2004 to fly with. Anyway, at least until I can get FSX running proparly so I can get the PMDG 777 which is bound to be an extraordinarily good addon.

Phil, I likewise use to enjoy flying the PSS-777, however since reloading it on XP, i am having difficulty getting the autopilot be stable, particualrly on the ILS. I would be most grateful of you could post the copys of the AP_control_coeffs.dat file and the Aircraft.cfg file that ytou are using. I can only agree that it is a superb aircaraft to fly, only wish one day to be able to fly it in a simulator. (It was previously available but has been removed from the availabe list for hire in london. In the mean time, I hope to get the simulator working again. Many Thanks
