Holding

Featured Replies

This question is regarding ATC placine planes to holding. Unfortunatley still I have not experienced being holded due to weather - despite the option turned on in the settings. We all know that in reality in busy places like EDDF, KJFK, KLAX etc... due to heavy traffic planes are assigned to hold due to traffic. Will this be possible to implement such in version 5?

is your last checkpoint a vor within 5 miles of the destination airport? if not, you will never be held. place one in your plan, and you may get held.explanation on the probability of getting held is in the manual. www.jdtllc.com/v4/rcv43.pdfjd

Never had last checkpoint at 5miles from destination :) But hey, even if I do it, ATC usually vectors to rwy much ealrier than 5miles VOR... Will this still be ok?And last one - does this apply to traffic too? I will dig into manual, but if you could just shoot from your head :(

if there is going to be holding, it will be based during enroute phase. weather, ai, number of runways, and of course if there is a vor, all go into the decision to hold. if you're not held by center, you won't be held by approach.

So i added VOR which is either at Airport or in area of max 5NM. Everything changes now as I get instructions never heard before. Now things are just fine.I still wait for holding but will be patient :)

if you want held, change it from weather related to "on"jd

Do you have to delete the .rc4 file for changes to be saved?
i don't think so.

Topic hijack: Why does the checkpoint have to be a VOR, and why within 5 miles? I tend to use real world routes, and not once have I had a hold - now I know why.

no holding if the last checkpoint is a vor and it is more than 5 miles from the airport.you may be held, if the last checkpoint is a vor @ the airport (which by definition is < 5 miles from the airport)jd
