PMDG Install location problem

Featured Replies

I got the PMDG 747 and was so excited to use it, but when I tried to install it, it gave me a error message when I clicked on the next button on the 'I agree or not agree' page. The message was 'Installation cannot continue. You do not have flight simulator installed' Well, I did not install FSX in the correct path, but in E drive. But the installer could not detect it, and I could not get show the correct path for it, as the error message won't go away. I had to end the program by using the the task manager. Can someone help me on how to show the installer the correct path for FSX. I really want to use this aircraft. Please? Here's a screenshot of the error message.

E:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator XIf it is in your E Drive. You look like your not using Win7 or Vista (like me) so I don't know what it is. The above one if Win7 or Vista.

Nameless,Please sign your posts as required per the forum guidelines to avoid getting future posts deleted without merit. The installer is looking for the FSX.exe registry entry in the Windows File Registry. I suspect that when you installed FSX on the E: drive, you manually moved it from another location thus creating a problem with the Windows Registry entry. Please try the following tool http://www.flight1software.com/files/FS_Registry_Repair.exe Make sure that while using the tool, you right click on the Icon and select " Run as Administrator" to ensure it works properly. Point the tool to your FSX.exe file in the FSX folder on your E: drive and save it and you should be all set.

Wouldn't the FSX installer say 747-400X? This looks like the FS9 installer. Also for the record, I don't think I have ever had to point the PMDG installer to my FSX installation. It seems to find it from quering the registry just fine. And my install also is not default, but rather D:\Hangar\FSX

DOH!!! My bad. However, in my defense, the same tool will work for your FS9 registry as well and should still correct the problem.

Okay, as answer to all your questions.Firstly, I didn't move FSX from the original place it installed, which was E:\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X. I checked the registry and it say the same path for FSX also. I installed, GEX, UTX, REX, FEX, and various other addons that seems to find FSX without a problem. Secondly, I'm using Vista Ultimate MIX 32 bit, so you won't recognize it. :( So, why can't PMDG find FSX, or even let me direct it to the correct path? Here's a screenshot of the registry. _______________________________________Nimsi Whalewood

That is very clearly the *FS9* 747 installer, not the 747-400X. The name you signed your post with is not in our customer database, I will not be providing any further assistance until you provide the real one.

This is clearly a torrent. He has a torrent downloader open in the corner first of all and second he didn't even know that this was the FS9 installer. If you bought it, you would know that.Taylor Oldham
