Has anybody had any luck with SSD?

Featured Replies

When I installed my SSD a couple of weeks ago, I installed FSX on there instead of my velociraptor. I found screen loading times a lot quicker, and texture/model etc loading to be instant.

yes it does make a difference. faster loading times mainly, but before i had to wait minutes for fs9 to load up now its seconds.

Sorry I missed this one. I use a 160GB Intel X-25M for FS9/FSX. Initial loading times are super-fast (FSX+UT II in 20 sec or less), and pauses while rapid-panning are rare, where they happened semi-regularly with a WD Velociraptor on a well-tuned 4.4GHz i7. It doesn't improve frame rates. It's not something I couldn't live without, but it's sure nice to have. I do tinkering and software development that requires restarting FS a lot, and it *really* makes a difference there.I'm ordering a 64GB X-25E for my OS/boot drive soon.CheersBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO

Well, by me just going off of what "apline" had stated I went ahead the orther day and purchased a SSD.It is the very same ssd as you have the 160GB Intel X-25M. By this weekend I should have it all set up. I am keeping my fingers crossed that things go smooth and I get the increase that I desire. Load times decreased will be great I just hope for alittle more.
