February 25, 201016 yr I'm confused and frustrated---possibly ignorant. I've searched the forums and even googled, but getting nowhere fast. That's why I'm seeking the expert knowledge found here. I've been FSX'ing for 3yrs,but only with the default GA aircraft. They're low and slow thrill me with the UTX and GEX scenery, but I've been trying to make the transition to the Lear and CRJ because they seem more manageable. Here's the problem: the autopilot. When I takeoff in the 172,I'll reach my altitude of 2000' and apply the A/P. Dialingin a VOR and switch on the NAV button. The 172 turns on its own and flys the course to the VOR. Not with the Lear or CRJ. I dial in the VOR and make sure I'm getting the morse ID,then push the NAV,the indicator light is on,the plane continues straight on the same course. I'm probably missing something simple, but I'm frustrated to the point of not wanting to fly these wonderful planes, and I really would like to.....thanks for any help. Seems silly but its easy to overlook when trying to get to grips with a new and faster airraft. Seems silly but its easy to overlook when trying to get to grips with a new and faster airraft. What John said - but if your AP is on, and HDG/SPD/ALT autopilot control is working fine, check whether your NAV source is GPS or VOR/NAV - the default jets have (differently situated) buttons/dials to flip between the respective sources; you need to have that set right, for your AP NAV/LOC to work.I do like the Lear/CRJ. Now trying to master Feelthere's excellent ERJv.2 - can't recommend it highly enough, if you like the smaller jets. Paul Skol

SkipDQ6600 2.4;4gb ram;9800;Saitek yoke;REX;UTX usa/can;GEX usa/canIn the CRJ and Lear you not only have to have the NAV button clicked on but you also must activate the VOR/LOC button. Without that turned on, you'll continue on whatever the heading reads. You should also put in the course to the waypoint or NAV frequency but it's not totally necessary. In the FSX Learning Center, there's an in-depth explanation in the Autopilot and Navigation sections.Best regards,Jim
