Had to reinstall FSX and looking for locked view fix

Featured Replies

Hi , I tried looking for the fix for the locked and spot view fix so that your view stay pointed in the same direction even as your plane makes a turn. Thanks for help can't seem to remeber where to make those edit in. Perry.

Do you mean something other than just using F11 ?

Just in case others do not know the tweek for this I have listed it below. It is in the Camera.cfg and you replace the items listed. The original text is commented out with the // function.[CameraDefinition.004]Title = Fixed Spot //Locked SpotGuid = {BCA3FDD1-FB83-4BBA-8407-4922A7F0D00D}Description = This is the description of the fixed spot view.Origin = CenterSnapPbhAdjust = Ordinal //SwivelSnapPbhReturn = FalsePanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = FalseTrack = FixedChase //FlatChaseLockedShowAxis = NoAllowZoom = YesInitialZoom = 1.0SmoothZoomTime = 2.0ShowWeather = YesXyzAdjust = FALSETransition = YesShowLensFlare=TRUECategory = OutsideClipMode = SpotPitchPanRate=30HeadingPanRate=75PanAcceleratorTime=1HotKeySelect=3
Track = FixedChase //FlatChaseLocked
Interesting. I thought mine was different (and it is). I tried this "FixedChase" and got performance much like the tail and wing cameras - still ridgedly attached to the aircraft but movable and pan-able. But not "Fixed" in direction.My Line reads: FixedChaseLocked and it works correctly...This made me curious: "none" does not work, neither does "Fixed". and, for me, neither does the FixedChase you have.Well, no matter. What I have does work so I'll stick with it.Loyd

Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro

Interesting that it would be different. My configuration came directly from the ACES group before they were disolved. I assume that you are seeing what I do. By that I mean that your view is always pointed at the compass setting that you pan to and the aircraft will turn while you stay fixed on a distant mountain or object. Thus it appears that you are viewing the aircraft from a fixed point like the Empire State Building and the aircraft can circle without you moving your eyepoint view.

Exactly. Fixed in viewing direction, regardless of the aircraft oriention. I also "carry around" a few Fixed Location Cameras in the configs of my more frequently flown aircraft. I can drop them via Lat-lon-elev anywhere and watch myself (or anything else) while I fly. They're a bit like a fixed location fly-by except they stay put and don't track the aircraft - but I made them pan-able and movable. I guess they could be made to track also but we already have the fly-by to do that so I didn't; that would make it like a custom 'tower' that you could put anywhere... maybe I should try it.Loyd
