February 28, 201016 yr Just wondering if anyone has dug deep enough into FSX to find out what the source file is for the Keyboard Commands seen in the Kneeboard in FSX.In FS2004 it was a file named kneeboard_keys.htm which resided in the Aircraft folder.Of course there is no file like that in the FSX Airplanes folder. There is one in the FSX Uires folder - but while making experiments I found that it can be completely removed from FSX and the Key Commands still display pro[erly in the FSX kneeboard. Obviously that info is being generated elsewhere.Any thoughts on this?
February 28, 201016 yr Moderator Opa, the FSX SDK has this: Key CommandsProvides a complete list of keyboard commands. The text displayed on the Key Commands tab of the kneeboard is located in the main Aircraft folder, and is named kneeboard_keys.htm.What the SDK completely fails to mention however is that unless otherwise specified in the aircraft.cfg file, the default is located here:..\Uires\kneeboard_keys.htm Fr. February 28, 201016 yr Author Opa, the FSX SDK has this:What the SDK completely fails to mention however is that unless otherwise specified in the aircraft.cfg file, the default is located here:..\Uires\kneeboard_keys.htmBill that sounds as if it was taken directly from the FS2004 SDK - As I said in my original post - removing the file from Uires in FSX makes no difference at all. And I see no reference in the aircraft.cfg files to the key data or kneeboard.Back to the drawing board?

You did shut down FSX and the restart to ensure that a cached copy of kneeboard_keys.htm wasn't being used, right?Using Windows Explorer to search the entire drive(s) of all my FSX installations, the file kneeboard_keys.htm was found in five locations:FSX:M:\FSX\Uires\kneeboard_keys.htmM:\FSX\Setup\kneeboard_keys.htmM:\Flight Simulator X\Uires\kneeboard_keys.htm (my "Virgin FSX installation") FS9: M:\FS9 Virgin\kneeboard_keys.htmM:\FSX\kneeboard_keys.htm This file simply does not exist except in the locations cited above... :( Fr. But with the file completely removed from FSX, it still displays properly (yes did a complete reboot of the computer) so I figure it must be "hard coded" somewhere else and is really not using the kneeboard_keys.htm at all as FS2004 did.I am stumped. :(
February 28, 201016 yr Nah, Opa, you're not stumped.Ya just quit looking too soon.Keys?Whose keys? MINE or default. My kneeboard shows MY custom changes...which means it can only come from one place:Standard.xmlLoyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
March 1, 201016 yr Author Thank you Lloyd -I had not put two and two together.I was hoping there was relationship between what I see and the old "kneeboard_keys.htm" type of file in FSX so one could "add" htm coding to it as we were able to do in FS2004.That does not appear to be an option in FSX.
