March 1, 201016 yr To improve FSX startup time and performance should I switch off unwanted 'xxxx Base' entries in the Scenery Libarary? If so, is there a list showing what areas each one covers please? For flying in the UK I switch all of them off (apart from those few like 0005 that won't allow that), as I have Horizon's VFR Gen-X scenery. But if I'm flying in France, for example, I need to know what entries must be enabled.--Terry, East Grinstead, UK

UK is mostly in folder 0501; most of Europe, folder 0601. etcjust combine the column label with the row label to make the name of the folder that contains the area.I doubt the enable-disable of scenery will affect the startup time significantly. Immediately after a rebuild, I noticed amazing startup times. But all the scenery was enabled. That went away quickly as additional aircraft are added. So which has the greater affect? For me, it was the aircraft more than the scenery.Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
