Dual monitor troubles in FSX

Featured Replies

I've been playing FSX for a few years with a single 22" LCD. I picked up a nicer 24" LCD the other day and I'm going dual with the 24" as my primary and the 22" as my secondary. Windows handles it just fine, but when I get to FSX, it thinks that the 22" is the primary monitor. I have to shift stuff around every time I start flying to get it "right". Am I doing something wrong? What I want is my cockpit view on my 24" and then GPS, Radio stack, kneeboard, etc, on the 22" screen.I don't mind moving the stuff around - it's a hassle, but it's really not a huge deal. What is a huge deal is that when I hit my screenshot button in FSX, it takes a screenshot of the GPS and whatever else is on the 22" LCD. Not very interesting looking, IMHO! When I go into the video config, the monitor that it shows by default is the new 24", so I would kind of think that it would be right in the sim but it's definitely not!My setup (don't know how much is relevant)FSXWin7 Home PremiumGeForce 9600 GT 512MB4GB RAMSamsung 24" LCD and LG 22" LCDThanks for any advice you can give me!

hey. dont know about in W7, but in vista this works. right click on your desktop>properties>display settings. on the drop down box choose your 24" monitor and tick the box, 'this is my main monitor'. hope it helps

Which monitor does your system show here --> Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display\Screen Resolution ?

Sorry guys... I had subscribed to the topic, but realized just now that my acct had an old email listed, so all along I assumed nobody cared or had any answers!I'll check that stuff out tonight after work. Windows doesn't have any trouble with which monitor is which, so I'm a little stumped.I did figure out that when FSX starts up and the cockpit/etc is on the wrong screen, I can alt-enter to put it in windowed mode, drag the window to the proper screen, and then alt-enter again to get back to full screen. That works and it even allows me to take screenshots of the correct screen!

Duh... I can remotely access the PC from work and at least find that much info out. When I go into the screen resolution menu, it shows the 24" as my #1 monitor and the 22" as my #2. The 24" is selected by default and it says "this is currently your main display". If I click on the 22", I get the check box for "make this my main display". So Windows does have it right.

I had this problem, but only when running FSX in DX10 preview mode. At the present I use only one monitor and allways run FSX in DX9 mode.
