I have not been able to run FSX comfortably though I've tried 3 or 4 times...Thank you,Matthew
March 8, 201016 yr All I want to do is upgrade my motherboard and processor, I would seriously consider outing that graphics card and increasing your RAM.
March 8, 201016 yr First lay out the ammount you want to throw into the money pit. Then we can better guide you. There's always a bottleneck, and implied your RAMs are up for an upgrade as well. Eventually upgrade in steps. Got to go, I'll comment further later. "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
March 8, 201016 yr Author Thanks Bjorn,Let's say 600 and include the RAM in that if possible. (Forgot how RAM is usually linked to motherboard upgrade)
March 8, 201016 yr I7 920/9306GB DDR3Asus P6t [not deluxe, basic P6T is cheaper]Check your PSU wattage is up to the task, especially when you decide to swap graphics cards.
March 8, 201016 yr Now I don "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
March 9, 201016 yr Author 600 USTurns out I have a Zalman CNPS9500 installed right now so I think I can use that for my upgrade. Also I have a Zalman 500W PSU, should be fine when I want to upgrade my GPU.Question now is: I'm not a big tweeker/overclocker so why not go for the i7 to future proof it a bit? And, why not go for an Intel motherboard? Is it all to do with price? What does Asus have over Intel? I've always had Intel motherboards. What brand and speed RAM? How much difference does the speed make? Also 920 vs 930, for the price difference is it worth the money?I've never been one to need the absolute top of the line. Just below is fine.Details:ATI x1950 is pci-eand I will need 2 pci slots for other cardsThanks for indulging me on all these questions!
March 9, 201016 yr I'm not a big tweeker/overclocker so why not go for the i7 to future proof it a bit?On my side of the pond the i-series processors are somewhat pricier than C2D processors, and I myself not being the great overclocker embarked on the adventure it can be to overclock in order to get max performance for the buck.an Intel motherboard?Never came across one when doing my research, so to my knowledge they are not renouned for great gaming boards. I also went for a board with nVidia chipsets instead of Intel, now the nVidia chipset may get hot, so cooling is important. But I don "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
