March 8, 201016 yr Good evening,Iim little bit desperaUte beacase in the last 4 times that i've tried to fly i had a ctd. Always departuring from KORD (to L.A.),most of times after the take off, and always before the first VOR named BFD.I've only default sceneries. Ultimate traffic 2, with 80% of airlines traffic and 20% of general aviation. I installed the last navigraph navdata two days ago and the flight1 fix register. My PC: WINDOWS VISTA 64 BIT HOME PREMIUM - INTEL CORE DUO QUAD CPU Q9300 2.5 GH - 8G RAM - NVIDIA GEFORCE GT230.Anyone can hel me to solve this problem? Thanks in advanceMATTIA VANADIA
March 8, 201016 yr Hi Mattia, The first place you should look with CTD's is in the windows event logs. There will be a line called "Faulting Module". That is a good start. If you're running all default sceneries that rules out a duplicate afcad issue but doubt those result in ctd's anyway.Do you only get this with KORD? Have you tried others? I don't think nav data such as a VOR would cause the issue, but check your event logs, it may be the PMDG_MD11.dll in which case I would recommend reinstalling it by just running the installer again and selecting repair. To access your event logs. Click the windows start button, right click My Computer and choose Manage. In the left hand side of the Computer management window that opens, expand "Windows Logs", then highlight Application. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
March 8, 201016 yr What is your flight plan? BDF is an arrival gate, most traffic departs via PLL. You can get current real flight plans from flightaware.com Dan Downs KCRP

March 8, 201016 yr This is where the little bit of data given to us from the even manager fails us. It isn't enough info. Not sure what a flight plan has to do with a CTD, never heard of that before but of course doesn't mean much.As for time acceleration from 8x to 1x, I never use it,,, ever. But imagine that once you set it back to 1x it has to recache all your current data, textures etc... Depending on where you are and conditions present, that may cause a serious cramp in your CPU/memory/hard drives back side. Unfotunately I don't know enough about to it to advise you on it, just my own theories.Maybe a defrag will help, but I doubt it. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
March 9, 201016 yr and the VC freezedCould you unfreeze the VC using A then Shift+A? Were other views such as 2D working?Dan, under certain conditions, you can get the MD11 to CTD if you are not using the FMS as intended such as not having at least one fix in the FPLN before the approach and trying to go direct to the approach fix; at least I think that is how it happens. I've had a half dozen posts since MD11 RTM that concerned this behavior and pointing them towards proper use of the FMS solved the CTDs. Dan Downs KCRP

Spent a good portion of the day yesterday trying to resolve a FSX freeze up that ended up being due to 1 little sound file (not PMDG's) not playing nice so I seem to learn something new every day. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier

I don't know why sometimes my panel freeze or some CTD appear....I don't know Dan, i have to attend the nex service pack?RegardsMATTIA VANADIA
March 10, 201016 yr Glad it decided to work for you Mattia. Not sure what caused it either. If it starts again, maybe you should try running in windowed mode with task manager open to see if you can see what is causing it. Not sure what you mean by service pack, but if you mean SP2 for FSX I say yes indeed.Good luck, i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
March 10, 201016 yr The best method for me to get a 100% CTD is to insert the same airport as origin and as destination into the CDU and then select a SID and a STAR. A few moments after takeoff, CTD. 100% reproduceable. Doesn't occur when origin and destination are different and spaced apart. Maybe the distance between them is an issue. I consider this a bug, happened to me on 3 different machines with 2 different Windows versions in FSX.Traffic pattern flying training is difficult with this bug...Andreas Andreas, LOWW - Nihil sumus et fuimus mortales. I too had this problem once when flying practice approaches. It was a long time ago, but I also would have the same results. I don't know why things differ per install, but as many of us know, they sure do. I don't have the problem right now or my last couple installs. I guess it's just one of those weird anomalies? I could reproduce it as well, yet I can never reproduce how FS and all of my addons will install even though I follow a very exact install order. I think I may go bald someday from the amount of scrathcing of the head this topic causes. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
