ASE ATIS/Flightwatch issue

Featured Replies

Hi all,In ASv6 when i inserted a flight plan and when setting 122.00 i was able to get meteo information of nearest station and destination. In ASE i can only get the nearest sation meteo information. I don't seem to be able to get the destination again.Since VOLMETs are not simulated on FSX and ATIS is useless because of it's range, this ATIS/Flightwatch option was my only way of getting a good forecast for my approach. But now on ASE i'm hopeless again. Can somebody guide me on how to solve this?Kind regards,Carlos

Hey Carlos in ASE to get your destination forecast its 122.05, you must have processed a flightplan, 122.00 is for stations along the way.

Hi ianbeggsThanks for your help. But i have a "Departure", "Destination", "Alternate", Fligh Level" filled in the Briefing screen of Active Sky Evolution, but the freq. 122.05 don't transmite anything. Only 122.00 is able to transmit (but only nearest station).Anything i may be doing the wrong way? :(Thanks again,Carlos

Hi,No matter what 122.00 is always going to be nearest station only.Did you give 122.05 time enough to be recognized and start playing? You say you entered that information, but did you then process the plan by clicking on the Process icon?

Hi,I did process it, and i even tried the refresh ai.As for giving it time to process, i don't now how much time it needs but in 122.00 it's almost instant i was thinking it would be the same for 122.05I'll try giving it some more time and i'll give you feedback. Thanks for your help,Carlos

Hi again,Nothing worked.I waited 5 minutes with 122.05 set on comm1 and nothing happened. When i set 122.00 instantly i get the nearest station. In the briefing page of ASE everything is right (departure, destination, speed and Level) and processed.I don't know what else i can do :( Kind regards,Carlos

Solved...122.05 doesn't work, but 122.02 does ;)Thanks for all the help.Kind regards,Carlos

Sorry Carlos my mistake I meant to say 122.02, I posted 122.05, for some reason that number is stuck in my head. Anyways glad you sorted it out.

Directly from ASE manual:

Voice ATIS/Flightwatch: Selecting this option plays the ATIS and Flightwatch messages when you select
the assigned frequency in FS (122.00).

There is no 122.02 freq to listen to ATIS arrival airport in the manual, where did you find it? and again do you know how about is this ATIS range?

From Page 12 of the ASE Manual:

"Voice Feature:

To use the voice feature tune to 122.00 on any radio in FSX or FS9 (must be activated and audio panel selected for that radio) and receive a voice message for the closest weather station. Tuning to 122.02 when a flight plan is specified plays back a destination weather report. You can view the text instructions for creating new voice sets in your ASE\Voice folder (voice-information.txt)."

Thanks Jack, is there a specific range for tuning ATIS at arrival airport or you can listen to it into whatever distance?

Any distance.

Mmmh, I tried yesterday during a long haul with MD11, I was 700NM from arrival airport, tuned both Com1 and 2 on 122.02 but not hearing anything.
