March 24, 201016 yr Commercial Member Dario,Do you play other games besides FS? If so, then the 275 will be better for you in newer games. The reason you're seeing DX10 btw is because you don't have a DX11 video card. The only DX11 cards right now are the ATI Radeon 5 series. (If I read correctly, you have a 4200M currently right?) Nvidia's GTX400 series will be out next week and those are DX11 as well. Regardless, DX11 does nothing at all for FSX, it's a DX9 engine with partially implemented DX10 in the preview mode. There's only a couple games that support DX11 right now, Battlefield Bad Company 2 being the most notable one. March 24, 201016 yr Author I'm only FS Ryan. Nothing else.I got me a 5770 in the end, wich supports DX11 as you mentioned, but now I know that FSX won't take advantage of it I can rule that out as well. Also tried Andrew's idea and lowered my display resolution from 1920-1080 to the minimum I could find available and as you said in that thread next door it didn't change a thing either.Well, at least I found the reason why my CPU couldn't take OC. The system was running the CPU fan at half it's speed. Now at 3,8GHz with just a slight voltage increase it's stable and runs steadily below 50
March 24, 201016 yr Commercial Member A 5770 should be able to do 1920 with no problem at all... Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
March 25, 201016 yr Author I had the chance to test a GTX285 yesterday and everything remains the same. GPU bottleneck ruled out tooI've read that having a fast dedicated HD (the likes of a Velociraptor) for FSX might help, but in terms of performance or just saves time when loading flights?
March 25, 201016 yr Commercial Member Something's really wrong somewhere in your config, you should not be seeing such bad performance out of that machine. I'd very carefully check stuff like the heatsink mounting (to make sure the processor isn't throttling down or something like that due to heat) and also make absolutely sure you have all your drivers installed correctly. Motherboard chipset, storage controller etc - all that stuff is important. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
March 25, 201016 yr Author Thanks for the suggestion RyanI did a complete reinstall and it's looking a lot better now!Time to purchase the JS41 and test it on the real thing :(
March 25, 201016 yr Author Oscilating between 10 - 20 FPS with the JS41 in KSEA. Stutters quite a lot but at least I can fly it.I'll have to start over the tests and all that stuff but at least now a have a reason not to throw the rig out of the windowI said it many times b4 but will say it again. Thanks a lot to all of you who helped with your advise. Maybe in a couple of months i'll consider a new Intel CPU and a triple channel MOBO with good OC capabilities if I can't get smooth performace with my current set upI wont be a pest here anymore with my double posts and all :(
March 26, 201016 yr Thanks for the suggestion RyanI did a complete reinstall and it's looking a lot better now!Time to purchase the JS41 and test it on the real thing :(When you say I did a complete reinstall, are talking about FSX only or OS as well?you can see my rig spec down and I have very low FPS when flying to or from busy airport, also when I fly in weather it's just a slide show even with FS9. I've tried every thing with no change till I saw your complete reinstall comment (which I did several times with FSX) with no luck.I have a big problem with ATI CCC installation, it want install on my computer, my system just freezes when it start detecting graphic card, so I just have to install latest drivers manually, I don't know if that going to improve anything to me?.good luck with your tests. March 26, 201016 yr Author I only reinstalled FSX, SP1 & SP2. It's still looking pretty bad with heavy addons like the JS41 though.Anyway your specs look better than mine, so I'd say you should get better performance than me. Have you tried downloading CCC from AMD website? It really makes no sense that you get low FPS in FS9 with that computer. I see 100 -300 FPS in FS9I dont think CCC is important itself as long as you have your drivers ok. If you can see full resolution then I would say your drivers are okTry GPU-Z to see how your VGA is performingalso CPU-Z for the processor.Everest is payware, but usefull to monitor your system
