March 27, 201016 yr Hi all.I just bought a new headset Sennheiser PC350 as I am planning to add IYP. The problem I have is that the MS Voice Recognition keeps telling me it can't hear me lol. My sound at present is integrated on motherboard. I am thinking maybe I should go out and purchase a sound card. Anyone know what I should buy???. My MB is an ASUS P5K. I would like to spend no more than $150 if possible. Oh and sound quality not Heavy Metal is my priority I already have a bad enough hearing loss lol. Thanks in advance..........John :(
March 27, 201016 yr Check out the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional 70SB088600002 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Express x1 Interface Sound Card - Retail. Through the 29th, it comes with a headset too (can be given to someone else if you have kids). This is what I have in my PC and it sounds great. Positional sound is great in games too. March 27, 201016 yr The integrated sound on that board is plenty for almost anyone. There is def no need to purchase a $150 sound card unless you're a sound engineer. As for your SR problem, cant really help there. I use a USB headset with only integrated sound and have no problems with SR. - Red E8500 @ 4.1 | EVGA 275GTX (overclocked) | 2x2GB Mushkin Enhanced Redline @ 1066 | Samsung 24inch LCD @ 1920x1080 |

March 28, 201016 yr Hi.This tends to come up from time to time, and I find myself sitting on the fence when it comes to this question. The modern day motherboards are apparently coming with great quality sound compared to older boards, but, does not the same rule apply now as when it did then ?For example, years ago we were told that if you want to free up valuable resources then you should get an add-in sound card. This would also improve the enjoyment of any Sim / games because the add-in sound card would literally sound much better.Does this not mean anything any more?I'm no sound engineer, but, as well as using MS FS I also use some of the more modern games as well. So if I bought myself a new rig which was all up-to-date as such, then would I be wasting my money by purchasing something like whiteknight suggested as opposed to just using the on-board sound?Any thoughts would be most welcome on this.Thanks. (PS I am not trying to start an argument, just to get some views. Has anyone had on board and then gone over to a s/card and found it much better etc) Steve. It's been a very long time since I had a rig with a separate sound card so its not possible for me to give an opinion. My only thought at this time is that the more there is in the box so to speak the more power you will need to add. That's part of the reason that I am running a 4600 series ATI Radeon card instead of running a higher series. Question is, would I benefit from running 2 4600 series cards in my present rig?.....John
