March 29, 201016 yr SHould I expect better frames from the full program of fsx rather than just the demo??? Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.
March 29, 201016 yr SHould I expect better frames from the full program of fsx rather than just the demo???Yes and no. Demo is probably without SP2. Without SP2, performance is terrible. But apples to apples, basic FSX vs. Demo (if not service packed), then yes.
March 29, 201016 yr Author Yes and no. Demo is probably without SP2. Without SP2, performance is terrible. But apples to apples, basic FSX vs. Demo (if not service packed), then yes.Is it really that much a diffrence from fsx out the box to fsx with SP2???? March 29, 201016 yr Is it really that much a diffrence from fsx out the box to fsx with SP2????Yes, as well as many tweaks and adjustments to settings that may help a lot too. Nothing helps FSX like faster, higher end hardware though. i7-920 @ 3.2ghz | 6GB OCZ DDR3 @ 1600 mhz | GTX 580 1.5 GB | 1TB WD; 750GB WD | X-Fi Audio | 24" Dell LCD | X52 Flight Controller | REX-GEX-UTX-FTX
March 29, 201016 yr SP2 makes a huge difference, Yes. They improved performance quite a bit. It takes about 60 seconds to install each Service Pack so it's a no brainer. It takes about 60 seconds to install each Service Pack so it's a no brainer. That is simply not true, its 74.30 seconds for Sata 7200 rpm drives and 42.70 for SSD's, wish people would get there facts in a non curve before they post such anti sense.
March 29, 201016 yr Author Just wondering if anyone out there has tried the demo and remember what their frames were, Im trying to get an idea if it is worth purchasing or not. March 30, 201016 yr It's hard to say because the demo is quite light (lots of water and small islands, if I remember well). If the demo runs fine on your computer, don't expect the same fps above a major international airport with lots of AI...! So it's hard to tell. It IS a fact though that FSX with SP2 (and some nice tweaks) runs a LOT better than FSX RTM. But add some addons (scenery, planes, etc.) to really make FSX shine, and fps might drop again... FSX out of the box isn't very interesing, at least not for me: it's just the bottom of the pizza: you have to add the toppings yourself to make it tasty.
