April 2, 201016 yr Hello AllI am a great fan of the FFX-VISTALINERS aircraft.I have lots of there 737 300 400 500 dreds .One thing I have noticed when setting up a flight, I go to the fuel and payload screen in FS9, and in that screen where it shows the aircraft centre of gravity indicator it is always right on the nose of my selected aircraft. When I load my payload and fuel that indicator still remains on the aircrafts nose. This is not a problem(the FFXs are so user friendly to take off and land) I was just wondering why this is. PS Is your PC getting a little long in the tooth? Then you should try the FFXers they are so frame rate friendly (I do convert to dxt3 though)and I get beautiful stutter free (not completely of course this is FS after all :( )flights ,taxiing and banking. This also applies to Meljet 747s and 777s they to are excellent performers and look good too. Meljet aircraft are a long in the tooth(in FS terms) now but don't be put off they where way ahead of there time and probably perform as intended on todays PCs rather than those of 2001-03.Anyways some thoughts for you owners of Senior citizen PCs that want the best in smooth flying.cheers Andy

If you get to looking around you'll see that a lot. It's just one of the little FS oddities.DJ

April 3, 201016 yr Thanks DJAs I said in my original post, I was just curious that's all.(I presume its something to do with the weight and balance section of the aircraft's CFG file).CHEERS ANDYIt's even weirder than that. Remember that the model you see isn't the real model as represented in the air file. Many designers took (and take) advantage of that to simplify some of their calculations. Ron Freimuth explained it once and got everybody really confused.DJ
April 3, 201016 yr Andy et al,The CG marker is not in the nose by default, it's there because the FDE designer (usually accidentally) put it there. If causes an effect known as 'shuttlecocking'; in other words the plane pivots at the nose instead of at the normal CG, which is one third chord, centreline, waterline. It can be fixed but normally needs work on the FD.;)
