RC menu FS9 and FSX

Featured Replies

After upgrading to Win7 x64, the RC4 menu intermittently appears in the upper left corner of screen and is unmovable. Also evrn though I have "Ctl-Shft-0" checked in the options menu, the command isn't recognized by RC. Pulling my hair out trying to figure out whats causing the problem. I always right click RC exe and select run as administrator. Still no love.Bill M

Hi Bill,I don't have W7 so my help may be limited. Are you running FS in windowed mode or full-screen? Is the problem the same in both modes? And by 'RC4 Menu' do you mean the semi-transparent one and not the old AdvDisplay?

Hmmm, okay. Are you running FSUIPC v3.98 or FSUIPC 4.60? Does it happen with a default aircraft? Which version of FS? Sounds like a graphics driver issue. Have you checked for newer builds for your card? Some details of your FS setup would help. There may be others who have experienced the same problem.

I'm running both FSUIPC latest versions for FS9 and FSX. I'm also using the latest version Nvidia card driver. I don't fly default aircraft so I don't know. I only fly payware aircraft. But I never had this proble before with win XP. Just wondering if this is a Win7 x64 compadibility issue.

As you get the same problem with both FS9 and FSX then it has to be a W7 issue. Unless someone with W7 come in try posting in the W7 Forum. Sorry I can't be of more help.

really? that would be odd.what is ctrl-shift-0 supposed to do?you don't have advdisplay.dll in the \modules directory, do you? if so, delete it.any other add-ons running? try not running them, and see what happens. then add them back one at a time to see which is the culprit.you also might try the latest win7 64bit video drivers from the manufacturer, not from MS

1. ctrl-shift-0 resets menu back to main or cancel out of sub menus2. I have'nt used adv display in years3. I've tried with just RC and the problem of staying in upper left corner is intermittent. If I turn off windows Aero manully, it happens more. If FSX exe turns off windows Aero during startup, then 80% chance of dispalying properly.4. I'm using the 196.21 nvidia driver from manufacter

Aero is a memory hog and should always be disabled before running FS. I bet that is the cause of your problems. See if you can disable it permanently. As a XP user I'll defer to Vista/W7 users on how to do that.
