June 7, 200223 yr I finally had no choice and installed an antivirus software on my PC since weird things were happening. Lo nad behold 26 files were affected and 24 of them could be "healed". But 2 had to be deleted. One of them is c:windowswin32.dll. This looks like a system file. The file is now encrypted by the antivirus software and in a "vault" so it can't be used by anybody. I wonder what this dll is for. So far I do not see any problems without having this dll. Another file that had to be deleted was c:windowsie_pack.exe.I am running Win Me.Michael J. Michael J.
June 7, 200223 yr If it's of any help neither win32.dll nor ie_pack.exe exist on my Win98SE so it either came in with ME or, perhaps more likely, a virus pretending to be a system file.If you right click on the files and select 'properties' does that give any clues?Another thought, do a search for the files on one of the anti-virus s/w sites, a lot of them have very detailed info on most viruses.Best of luck
