What AA setting has best performance / IQ?In options I see normal AA, temporal AA multiplier, adaptive AA, filter (box, narrow-tent....)Could ATI possible have made this more confusing :( What do you recommend?

The topic title says I'm using a 5870. The rest of the system is i7 [email protected], 6GB ram, 2x SSD, Windows 7 x64.

I am using 8x Adaptive AA set at Wide-tent with my 5870. The best thing is to experiment as there is no "right" setting with FSX, just use whatever gives the best results for you.I'd just Google the Catalyst options to find out what does what. :(

You shouldn't be using an "ATI tray tools", unless it's the default ATI catalyst control center software. In any case, as a longtime ATI user (rockin' a 5770, not enough $$ to upgrade toa 5870) set all the CCC settings to "Application Managed" or something of the sort. Let your settings in FSX dictate what the video card does. Plus all that dough on the 5870 doesn't mean jack spit with FSX. Should've spent the money on a i7 or black edition AMD you can overclock to 3.7+.

Leave Anti-Aliasing Mode at Adaptive Multisample. At the AA Mode's highest setting its a framekiller, even for a machine like mine.
