  1. Is REX the only addon that require you boot the sim through their launcher? Or do I have to go through 3-4 third party launchers for each addon in order to fly with the addons working?
  2. I'm sure this is another repeate question, and I apologize if this clutters the forum. Anyway, I searched and found answers of compatibility about one or the other but not all together so hopefully someone can give me a quick straight answer. Is GEX/REX/UTX/SceneryTech all compatible with one another? I found this puzzling because one or more may do textures, while another or two does landclass, and so on. Would they overlap or all be compatible with one another. I don't want to get something like UTX, for example, if GEX covers exactly what UTX does on it's own. Thanks a lot in advance!
  3. I can confirm that using CCC (Catalyst Control Center) for a 5770 to force AA down to 2X (application managed allows FSX to set it at 16x) greatly improves framerates at almost no cost to visual quality. I was getting 20+ FPS at KJFK when with no tweaks to the CCC i was getting 9 FPS.
  4. TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400 <--- I thought NickN concluded that this does nothing at 100-400 after SP2/Acceleration (or even non-single core processors...i think). "Post Edit: This is my added tweak for great visuals well-formed, and miles out from the aircraft position:[TERRAIN]LOD_RADIUS=6.500000" <----- doesn't this cause your loading time to be twice as long? As I joke I put it up to 10 and it hung on 30% for about 15 minutes. Needless to say I changed it, but at 6.5 it takes about 2-3 times longer to load. I don't have that kind of patience lol. Anyway, the stickied BP=0 thread helped me out. I can finally run with AA and get a respectable 15-40 FPS depending on where I am. Usually KDTW or KJFK will give me 12-18 until I'm in the air. But anyway great stuff, just trying to get my head wrapped around all the infinite knowledge!
  5. Try picking up EditVoicePack for FSX. http://www.xs4all.nl/~larsm/FlightSimulato...oicepackX40.zipI'm sure your sound files are somewhere in there. Plus this program will hunt them down AND improve them. I strongly recommend. Just boot it up go to File>Update Voicepack and go from there. Good luck!
  6. SHA-ZAM!http://www.flightsim2004-fanatics.com/uplo...A/Def_GA_DL.htmMissing GA? Throw this baby's .BGL files in your Scenery>World>Scenery folder and you'll be all set. It also optimizes your GA flightplans to cover more airports.

  8. Yea the G1000 in all three aircraft is not very well done (the knobs that is). It's really tricky to get the right selection especially when there's multiple selections tied in with the knobs (like course/baromter). I spend half my time scanning the mouse over the knob a trillion times trying to get the selection i want.
  9. The "halo" looks fine in all those picture. The halo is really just the coloring and brightness and size of how it lights up the GROUND. It looks pretty good. Some people change their halo.bmp's to adjust the default FSX one which is a nasty yellow triangle that's very dense. But if your issue is the bright "flare" of light coming from the actual contact point of the light itself then changing the scale of the light in the FSX.cfg file will help. Don't know the proper commands off hand but if you search im sure you can stumble across one.
  10. You shouldn't be using an "ATI tray tools", unless it's the default ATI catalyst control center software. In any case, as a longtime ATI user (rockin' a 5770, not enough $$ to upgrade toa 5870) set all the CCC settings to "Application Managed" or something of the sort. Let your settings in FSX dictate what the video card does. Plus all that dough on the 5870 doesn't mean jack spit with FSX. Should've spent the money on a i7 or black edition AMD you can overclock to 3.7+.
  11. Fire up this bad boy: http://www.flightsim2004-fanatics.com/uplo...A/Def_GA_DL.htmThrow the .BGL files in your scenery/world/scenery folder. It's all the default GA traffic with edited flightplans for almost EVERY default airport. Great stuff.
  12. Yea I had to get rid of Chicago X because the frame rates were EXTREMELY poor. I got a decent system but it just couldn't handle 9.6 FPS.
