April 12, 201016 yr Hi all,Moving on from playing with the Saratoga file, I've found a modern day carrier I'd like to mess around with but the XML and MDL files are not attached. Is it possible to decompile the BGL file for it and end up with those files so I could modify them? I tried contacting the maker from the readme file but the email bounced and a search did not turn up new contact information. I want to stress this is for my own personal use, but if I'm doing something considered uncool please don't be afraid to let me know. TIA,Erin
April 12, 201016 yr Hello Erin,You will find a couple of decompilers in the Avsim library that should do what you want. In addition, you can use SBuilderX by Luis S Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
April 13, 201016 yr There are decompilers that will extract the mdl (model files) from a library. However I think you may be talking about modifying the mdl file. That would certainly breach copyright unless you had the owners permission. But more to the point is that I do not know of a tool that would get a mdl file back into a format that could be put into a 3D editor like GMax. Certainly not with any degree of usefulness. If, one the other hand, what you want to do is place the object somewhere else then that is generally easy enough to do. April 13, 201016 yr I suppose that Arno's very nice ModelConverterX will take a MDL file and convert it to a format that can be imported into gMax. Get it at his web site or just Google.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
