Upgrading my computer

Featured Replies

I'm considering making some upgrades to my computer, and I would appreciate suggestions on what upgrade would give me the best result for my money. I want to achieve better graphics and be able to run a little higher FPS.Current specs:AMD athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 4800+ 2,4 ghz2 gb RAMWin 7 32 bitNvidia GeForce 7800 GTXI run FSX with Acceleration, no payware addonsAny help is appreciated. Thanks, Daniel

How much money do you want to spend? You need a new CPU too, btw.

You could get a faster processor, quad core preferably. But I'm not aware of your main board spec.s, what socket is it? Will it hold a quad? You should aim for a freq. of at least 3 GHz, you may have to overclock. Processor is everything here. Add more ram, 4 gb would suffice. Depending on funds a higher gpu could come into play.

I think its a socket 939 chip.... You're going to need a new motherboard, CPU, and video card, and RAM to enjoy FSX.There are no upgrades that are worth it with a socket 939
