April 27, 201016 yr Hi,I am new to using the MD-11 which seems fantastic, I am trying to setup similar flights to that of the basic tutorial like EGLL to EDDF for example. To keep things simple I used the same SID (dvr) as used in the tutorial when leaving Heathrow but of course I don't know what STARS I should be using for my destinations. FSBuild seems to claim in helping with this but does it save flightplans in the correct format for PMDG? and would it solve my STAR problem? Is it up to date enough? I notice it seems to be fairly old now (2006) I think. My flights will all take place in Europe. I have tried Simroutes but of course that does not give SID STAR info and also does not have so many European plans. Also I have REX but have not got it currently installed as im worried about it mucking up air temperature matters with the MD-11 in FSX, anyone know of any problems? Maybe I can make use of the textures without inserting weather.......Many Thanks for any advice
April 27, 201016 yr Tom, the moderators usually ask for a signature even if your username is your name.Anyway, I wouldn't use FSBuild to select terminal procedures. It offers a drop down list and you pick one... so, which one do you pick? The easiest way to pick a procedure is to copy a real flight plan. I think the best way is to have the charts and pick one based on what you see, it is usually easy once you see they are designed to get you from an incoming direction to the airport and in Europe to a runway (US procedures are not usually runway specific although some are). Even if I know which procedues to select, I don't create a FSBuild flightplan with them. Instead I create an eroute flightplan and add the sidstars with the FMS in the aircraft, thus ensuring I have the current procedures and altitude/speed constraints from the sidstar files. Do you know of somewhere I can get hold of the charts? I know how to access all UK charts but not the rest of Europe, still trying to get to understand them properly.Cheers,Tom Collingwood

You register and it is free. U.S. I use airnav.com (or my flight bag). What do you use for the UK?BTW, I use REX 2.0, and have never had a problem with the TAT. I think FSPUIC helps a bit. April 27, 201016 yr Sorry could you send me a link for eurocontrol? I found this http://www.eurocontrol.int/aircraft_operat...ight_plans.html but I am not sure I am on the right path.......Thanks,Tom Collingwood

April 29, 201016 yr I personally do use FSBuild and like it for what it is. Although, if you find something newer, by all means. Having said that, what is the REX you speak of? Could you provide a link?FSBuild does work, as I said. There are a few issues though. For one, the NavData isn't updated every cycle. Also, lately, I've been having issues with European Routing. April 29, 201016 yr I use FSBuild and REX, haven't played with it to see if weather can be moved between them.I liked ASX better for the preflight weather reports, but I got tired of the US jet stream blowing east to west and dumped it. That might have been premature, seems that is simply microslop wx engine acting up. Dan Downs KCRP
