Will we have 3D in the foreseeable future?

If there's anyone with knowledge of 3D it would be interesting to hear opinions of what the future may hold for our hobby. We know that the cinema is flirting with 3D. We know that TV is flirting with 3D. We know that computer makers are flirting with 3D.What could the future hold for Flight Simulation?Cliff Harris

Yep, I had 3D shutter glasses back in the FS8 days. As I recall, it even worked passably well, though it did tend to darken the image more than I liked. Ultimately, the glasses ended up being a passing fad for me, but I'd put good money on some sort of 3D viewing becoming the gaming norm in the near future.

Got about $500? All 3D takes is a 120htz LCD and the latest nvidia 3D system. FSX support is listed as "excellent": http://www.nvidia.com/object/3D_Vision_3D_Games.html. I've tried a demo of this system, though not of FSX, and it's decent but not worth the price of admission IMO.

This is a better alternative:http://www.iz3d.comNewEgg has 'em for ~$300
Wow, that's pretty affordable. I think I paid that for my current 22" display - and that's in 2D. I'd be very interested to hear from someone who has a rig like this. Is it as good as it looks?
