Thanks to all you simmers for your comments.A couple of points i would like to make,I know it is much easier to taxi using an external view, but i try to keep it as real as possible and stay inside the 2D cockpit.I find it impossable to taxi at a constant speed no matter what aircraft you use, you'll either encrease speed or slow down so it's a constant trottle up and brake arrangement.I am sure that real aircraft do not have this problem.I use rudder pedels and using the toe brakes is very sensitive when turning so i don't use them except together to stop.I find it a lot less of a job when using the PDMG747 & MD11 to taxi and i find like the other comments that turns are best taken at 10kts or bleow and taxing straight at no more than 15kts.I think one of the problems with the software is that the turning ark is not very responsive as it always seems to take the same turning angle,(ie variation between wide and tight turning arks are hard to get).I know you can improve your taxing skills by practice and i am getting there.Once thanks to all for your imput.

There are several things involved here. Taxi is one thing (throttle, brakes) and Taxi Turns is another (toe brakes scale, differential braking, throttle. turning ratio of main wheels (reverse turning), etc). The pedals and yoke are not as easy to use for these 2 things as a twist grip joystick is. Simple as that. But, there is more to it. The contact points (especially for the nose wheel) comes into play too. Get the cnt pts 'right' (where the cnt pt is where the wheel is) and it might not turn. The actual cnt pt for the nose wheel may be half way between where the nose wheel actually is and where the main gear are. That's done so it will turn easier. And the 'magic' bullet is having 'differential_braking_scale=1.000' in the (Brakes) section of aircraft cfg- I can't 'live' without it. If not there, I put that line in.But the 'arc' the turn makes may not look/act 'normal'. Fix? Each aircraft would have to have their cnt pts tweaked. That would include wheel/cnt pt placement, and turning ratio, and then you match the toe brake scale and differential braking scale. But even then, you just have to take it where you have ample room and just practice. And that will 'work/apply' to THAT a/c and you have to re-adjust what you do with the NEXT a/c you pilot. Then there are the 747 type 'reverse' turning main gear settings in the cnt pts! Throw that in for good measure.CBNapamule

This 'advice' you give: 'use the "reset all" option under control surfaces..' labels you as moron. If you are serious (enthusiastic?) about giving advice then you should KNOW what you are talking about before you post. THAT IS VERY BAD AND MALICIOUS ADVICE. Got it?
Courteous and polite as always, eh? :( I suspect that Squishy provided that advice because he had assumed that Mike was struggling to stop his plane from "wriggling" down the taxiways. Keeping the plane moving in a straight line after negotiating a turn seems to be quite difficult in FSX, due to the sensitivity of the control input. That being the case, Squishy provided correct and useful advice. He certainly shouldn't have been chastised for it.
