May 8, 201016 yr Moderator Sorry to hear your having trouble still. I guess worst case, you could always do a fresh install of your operating system, then install from there. From your other post on this, I am still wondering how you downloaded FSX Gold from the Microsoft online store. I had no idea you could download FSX from them. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
May 8, 201016 yr I was a bit suprised myself, and its called a BOX, and then when yourun the program it comes with it it unpacks the box and you end up withCAB files...and Exe files and ISO files and all sorts of stuffand then when you run the EXE file for setup it runs like it came off of a dsk....it took a LONG time to download it was about 8 hours of time...between it starting and stopping, and then to unbox it it took another 15 to 20 min ...so what ever they they meaning microsoft did ...it compressed it even smaller than a zip file from what I can tell...I am almost 50 years old and I use to know DOS, and work that system...but now with all these dll files and these registery files I dont know any more...I am so far out of the loop that I just wish that DOS would come back to be quite honest with you.... May 8, 201016 yr Moderator I wonder if its possible that you have a corrupt download? Although, I think I remember saying that you couldn't reinstall your regular version of FSX either.Since you already:1. installed all needed updates2. cleaned the registry3. scanned for viruses4. added more updates...I can't think of anything else to try and since no one else has offered any ideas, I guess a complete re-install of your OS maybe the best idea. At least doing that you will be sure to have a nice clean start to everything. You may also want to either follow the install guide here: http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041 , which is a compulation of advice from many sources or use a pay service like FS-GS to get it set up and adjusted from the start.Good luck whatever you decide to do. May 8, 201016 yr Be sure you don't have Cd/DVD burning software running either in the system tray (lower right corner) or up and running. Also disable anti virus scanners. What I'd recommend is copying all the files off each DVD onto a folder on your hard drive. That way you can reinstall the software really fast compared to the DVD's. I have both my FSX install and Acceleration install on my backup 250GB hdd. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
