Hi, I seem to have lost most if not all of my traffic. Now I have been doing a fair bit of mucking around with stuff like MAIW packages, and installing and re installing TrafficX, which has never run right since I brought it.Is there a quick and easy way to check and see whats occuring? can i easily wipe out any mistakes I have made and I tried using the SDK traffic tool, but have run into problems using that as well, that are as yet unresolved.Cheers, Mark

Me too ?? After searching on the problem I found a reason that if you add a FS9 traffic BGL into FSX that it can cause this problem. But how do you find out which .BGL is causing the problem. It started for me when I installed a downloaded traffic file included with a regional jet program. I removed that .BGL but it didn't fix the problem. Is there a .CFG setting that controls the traffic that can get mucked up and if so where is it and what line is the villian... Thanks. Norm

FSX can read and act upon Traffic files which are in FSX format or FS2004 format - however it cannot use both at the same time. When it encounters a FS2004 format Traffic file, all FSX Traffic files will be ignored. This often happens when you install WOAI packages in FSX - as those Traffic files are in FS2004 format. It is therefore necessary to convert any and all FS2004 Traffic files to FSX format.I use the conversion tool which is built into the excellent AI Flight Planner utility by Don Grovestine. The utility is simple and quick - found on the file menu of that program. You can get the latest version here:http://members.shaw.ca/aifp/The vast majority of Traffic files will be found in your Scenery/World scenery subfolder but remember that Traffic files can be in any active scenery subfolder. Also the vast majority will have the word Traffic as a part of the file name, but even that is not always the case. There may be other ways of doing it but I would suggest de-activating all of the Aircraft Traffic files you find in the Scenery/World/scenery subfolder (change the extension from bgl to bglx) and then add them back in one at a time and check to see if the default FSX traffic displays. As you find those which cause the default FSX traffic not to display, move them into a temporary folder on your desktop. These will be the traffic files which are still in FS2004 format. You would need to search any addon sceneries you may have for Traffic files also.Once you have "collected" all of the FS2004 Traffic files, use the conversion tool suggested above and use the option to have it append the letters FSX to the converted Traffic file name. You would then move those files with the FSX appended back into your Scenery/World/scenery subfolder and all traffic should now display properly. The conversion is quick and painless - finding the files to convert will take a little time. Any new Traffic you may install should be converted immediately to keep everything "current".Hope these ideas are useful - they worked for me.

Thanks Opa, You are right that the bigest problem will be finding the fs9 traffic files. Do you know of any way that will make them stand out from the FSX traffic files or a program that will search for them? I have many addon scenery files that have traffic bgl's as part of the installation and even the ones that have "traffic" in the title are many on my machine, over twenty at last count..

If memory serves, there is an option on the Conversion menu of Don's program (AIFP) which says "find FS9 Traffic files" or words to that effect.I have never needed to use it as I already knew where mine were - but you might want to see if that option does the job for you.Hope it does.EDIT ADDED: I just ran a few tests on the "find FS9 Traffic files" option and it does a great job of finding them - even if traffic is not a part of the name. It creates a printable list with complete paths to any FS9 style Traffic files it finds. That should make the conversion much , much easier to do.

Opa, after downloading the program I too found this utility and it works great. It found over ten FS9 traffic .bgl files and I was able to convert them all and now my traffic is back to normal and I am a happy camper again. Thanks for all your help. It is people like you and the others on this forum that make the hobby so much more enjoyable. FSX seems to be a work in progress for all of us. I have been tweaking for the last three months and finally have everything running great so now I can get back to flying. fisheye Visit Our Website

Just happy to hear you are back on track. The real credit goes to Don Grovestine for his remarkable AIFP program and the great conversion utility which is built into it. :( :( :( Glad we were able to help out.
