May 23, 201016 yr Hey,This has happened to me a couple of times now.Approaching an airport (most recently Eelde in Holland) tracking a VOR radial (or ILS track) and the VOR suddenly loses its lock and I get the red NAV flag in the VOR dial. I can't seem to find any way to get the lock back (retuning NAV1 or reloading flight) and this makes landing impossible when you're under IFR. I have to reset the weather to hi vis and do a VFR landing.Am I missing something obvious or is it just a FSX glitch? Gareth Howell Cheshire (UK)
May 23, 201016 yr Are you on the radial that is set when you get the red flag? How close to the station? Art
May 23, 201016 yr And you're not somehow "bumping" the NAV/GPS mode switch back to GPS? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 23, 201016 yr Author Last time it happened, I was on base leg just getting ready to turn onto final at about 10miles out. Just got the red flag and couldn't retune...And I checked that I hadn't bumped onto GPS by mistake... Gareth Howell Cheshire (UK)
May 24, 201016 yr I really don't have a clue after trying the ILS and VOR at Eelde. Everything worked fine while flying the Baron. Of course it may be aircraft specific. One thing I found out in this exercise was that there was no functioning OBS knob for VOR 2 in the Baron VC. I have had problems getting an in-range VOR or ILS tuned-in but never a problem losing the VOR after it was tuned-in and within range. I thought the flag might show when the aircraft position was too far off the radial selected, but that didn't happen. You at least deserve credit for using the VOR when the GPS is so easy. Art
May 24, 201016 yr ILS VOR's have a narrow radio beam so you will see them drop out if you have flown past the radio cone.vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
May 24, 201016 yr Yeah but if it's a VOR it shouldn't lose signal 10 dme from the station... An ILS yeah depending on where you are. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
