May 29, 201016 yr Is anybody using the scenery of OIFM Esfahan Intl airport by Amir Parsian? There seem to be two versions kicking around - shahid_beheshti(oifm).zip on AVSIM and shahidbe.zip on flightsim.com - the latter file seems to be version 2 and about seven times the size!I have experimented with both and am experiencing the same results. What I am assuming to be trees appear as white rectangles, so I assume some textures are missing. I note that many of the included files are freely available libraries so there is pointless duplication but by name I cannot identify any tree files amongst them. I have written to the author to ask if I need any other add-on libraries but have received no response.I would be grateful for any ideas on a solution.John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org
May 29, 201016 yr Hi John,I tested the version from here and the main terminal is surrounded by trees that use a texture named alder.bmp.That texture is included in the file from here, and displays fine if you set the season to summer. The author did not include the seasonal textures to display in any other season. The simple fix is to make 3 copies of alder.bmp and rename them - alder_sp.bmpalder_fa.bmpalder_wi.bmpI suspect you will not need a hard winter texture for that part of the world, but if you do it would be alder_hw.bmpregards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
May 30, 201016 yr Author Hi Joe,A fantastic reply, and I felt sure it would fix my problem but it doesn't! There must be something else I have that is interfering with it.Even setting my date to summer, I still get the white rectangles. The "version 2" from Flightsim seems to include files of the names you mention, but still nothing visible in any season.Curious . . . but thanks anyway.John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org
May 30, 201016 yr Add a copy of those tree textures to your main FS9 texture folder and they should then work.regards,Joe[edit]Can you do a Windows Explorer search for baum_lib.bgl and see if it shows up anywhere else?[/edit] The best gift you can give your children is your time.
May 30, 201016 yr Author Many thanks Joe - I had to bale out for some sleep last night but did get as far as establishing baum_lib.bgl was the file that generated the tress and found four copies of it around my setup with various sceneries. I also established that two (at least) of those also had trouble displaying the trees.Today I have looked deeper and it seems that the offending one is KSFB Orlando-Sandford which has baum_lib.bgl but no alder* textures. I disabled that file and Esfahan has now burst into life!My OIIE scenery which was also not displaying the tree textures now seems fine too.I also have a scenery of UWOO and some of the trees there display correctly, although some others don't. I guess this is the same issue with another tree library. I shall persevere on that one but the key issue is resolved thanks very much.John Postscript - it seems that UWOO is the only scenery I have installed that has a full set of texture files to accompany baum_lib.bgl (there are a lot more than just the alder* ones) so I disabled all the others except UWOO one to make all sceneries use it. I think all is fine now. All, it would seem, caused by scenery designers that work on the assumption you don't have any other sceneries installed. May 30, 201016 yr Glad you sorted it out John.Baum_lib.bgl is a scenery object library that contains 24 different objects. Here is a complete list of textures used by that library. ALDER.BMP OAK_P.BMP ROWAN.BMP ASH.BMP BEECH.BMP CPLUM.BMP ELM.BMP MAPLE.BMP LMPOP.BMP OAK_S.BMP CHEST.BMP WILOW.BMP COLBL.bmp DGLAS.BMP ESTHM.BMP GRNFR.BMP GCNFR.BMP LBCDR.BMP LDGPL.BMP MTYCD.BMP NOBFR.BMP NRYSP.BMP SCTPN.BMP STKSP.bmp Some are obviously trees, others not. I would expect all the tree textures to require seasonal textures to display year-around.For addons this old, Sept 05, I would like to think the designers had not yet learned how object libraries work. However there are recently released addons that contain object libraries without including all the textures. So some people still don't get it.A simple rule should be applied by people creating addon scenery. If you didn't create it, don't include it. Tell us what object libraries you used in the readme, but do not include them in the package. The important thing to know, for all those reading this, is that if you install an addon scenery and see objects being displayed without textures 98 times out of 100 it is because you have a scenery object library located in another addon that does not have all the textures it needs.Sorry for the rant, this particular subject gets to me for some reason.regards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
