Original halo.bmp file for FSX

Featured Replies

Now that REX2 has trashed my halo.bmp file in FSX I need to replace it with the original, but I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone have a link to it or the location on the original DVD to retrieve it?Lee :(

You can't retrieve individual files from the DVD. You'll have to insert the DVD and do a repair. You should first backup the FSX.cfg and the DLL.XML and maybe the EXE.XML. After you repair the original FSX, don't forget to do a repair with the Acceleration program or do a repair with SP1 and SP2 if you do not have Acceleration. If you have a secondary harddrive and plenty of space, I would copy the whole FSX directories containing the orig files so you won't have to go through this ugly process of repairing FSX in the future.Best regards,Jim

Hi,With all that is required to restore the original, I would just find a better halo.bmp file. The one supplied with FSX is not that great to begin with, nor does it warrant all that work to replace it (JMHO).

In fairness to REX, the lights they add are actually very nice, but they interact oddly with some add on sceneries and cause strange light effects. We just have to find a happy medium.Lee
