30+ clicks

Featured Replies

Bryan,The last time I purchased Fs2Crew 737 Voice command, I only utilized three times, although I liked the concept. This week I purchased the Fs2Crew PMDG J41 Voice version. My first impression was fantastic. I managed a flight, but I did not complete the flight. The F2Crew setup did not give me absolute control of my airplane. Here is where I am not comfortable with setup:When I clicked to Configuration Panel RUN PF button, between Run PF button push and until I hear from FO."My cockpit is ready" there were more then 30+ various knob turns and clicks that I heard during FO silent activities. I know FO will complete the checklist, but I have no idea what FO was clicking. He was doing it so rapidly there was no way he could have been following the checklist. Unless he has magic memory ( Fs2Crew software program). I know we are not in RW cockpit and sitting side by side with FO. I cannot monitor the FO, but definitely I would like to see which panel he is in and which button he is going to push according to the check list. At least I would like to see mouse arrow pointing at the button on panel and hear FO reading checklist item and then clicking. This is my personal opinion. Following the checklist and clicking the right switch either by be my or FO, is one of the good parts of the flight. Thanks

Ahmet,The FO is performing a "flow" which is not done by reading the checklist. The flows are commited to, and performed from memory. Flows are called flows because they progress logically from panel to panel, making it easy to rapidly verify/modify switch positions.Once the flow is complete, a verbal (or silent) checklist is used to confirm vital functions have been performed. Most checklists are verbal, however the After Takeoff and After Landing checklists are silent. There's nothing abnormal about the speed with which the FO performs these tasks. When you do it 5 or 6 times a day like a regional pilot does, the routine becomes second nature very quickly.

Nick,I agree with you in RW "When you do it 5 or 6 times a day like a regional pilot does, the routine becomes second nature very quickly". What about in our Simpilot World, We have no access/monitoring to FO silent activities . This opportunity will be a good training/learning for Simpilots to followup FO actions and hear checklist items. Please lets not forget, our involvement with flight activities as much as possible make " Happy Customers".

You can always print out the FO's flows from the PMDG J41 Flight Operations Manual, and then you can see exactly what he's doing.Edit: And to reiterate, no checklist is used in order to accomplish flows, thus there would be nothing to "hear". Having the FO verbally state every step of every flow would be completely unrealistic.

Hi, this is all documented in the manual. Also, please take a look at the PMDG J-41 Normal Checklist.Take a look at the Cockpit Prep Section. The items marked with an -F the FO perform during the Pre Flight Events.Other flow actions are described in the manual.FS2Crew is first and foremost and airline flight crew simulation. The procedures used in the PMDG J41 version come right out of the PMDG AOM, which in turn came from Robert Randazzo's old airline where Robert was once the Chief Pilot. In fact, I could have named this version of FS2Crew "The Robert Randazzo" Edition because the procedures modelled are all from Robert.Cheers,
