new build - disappointing result in FSX

I thought with 4 cores running at 4ghz this should be a pleasant FSX machine. However, I'm getting 14-18fps at LAX looking over the terminal area, with these settingsgraphics1600x1200x16trilinear with anti-aliasinglens flare and advanced animationsAircraft - ultra highScenery detail radius - mediumcomplexity - 47mesh - 38mtexture resolution - 1mwater effect - high 1xscenery complexity - very highautogen density - normalspecial effects detail - normalweathercloud - 60mithermal visualization - nonedetailed cloudscoverage density - hightraffic - airline only @ 60%What can I do to get to something playble, like 30fps? Would a GTX470 improve things quite a bit? Thanks all.

1) 8800gtx is fairly weak for FSX.2) you should try BP=0 tweaks, but since you have 8800gtx, it's highly likely you will get crashes, gotta try it out

And keep FSX on a separate dedicated drive.

Will post FPS under GTX470 when i that card. is it normal that only 1 core is getting about 75% load while the other 3 cores idle most of the time? I was under the impression that FSX is CPU intensive, yet it seems to use very little of it.

Post this in your FSX.cfg file in it's own section. All 4 cores will share the work load. If you want 1 core free to run other programs, change the "15" to a "14" but I find the 4 cores better. Disable hyperthreading.[JOBSCHEDULER]AffinityMask=15Stephen

Are you sure you updated with both service packs? The situation you describe I can't recognize on my machine. My Core0 is 99% of the time at 100%, and Core1-3 mostly very high, and sometimes only middle. Depending how much workload is there.

I have Acceleration installed, which contains SP2 package, right? Should I install SP2 over acceleration as well?
