June 20, 201015 yr I'm an engineering student at a local university, and for one of my summer classes I was assigned a project to analyze some design with bearings in it. Being an aviation fan, I decided to do the bearings in the main gear of a 757. However, I'm having trouble tracking down technical specs on that. Is there somewhere that has drawings/specs/detailed tech info on the main gear assembly of a 757?I've been looking through Boeing's site and Googling like crazy, but I've come up empty so far. June 20, 201015 yr to get into the specs you will need to speak directly with: boeing maintenance department of an airline that has the plane in their fleet the information you want may be closely held as it has to do with copyright and development.if the university you study has an aviation department you may have some luck in developing a contact through the faculty.-- D. June 20, 201015 yr I would contact Boeing if I were you. They are actually quite keen on assisting in a few areas of education. As a starting point, you might want to email this guy:[email protected] is the Boeing company historian and will probably be able to point you in the right direction. If you don't ask, you don't get, and the worst he can do is say no.Here is a link to a technical document on the B757 landing gear and braking system. That'll get you started: http://www.smartcockpit.com/pdf/plane/boei...7/systems/0008/If it ain't too late to change your mind, you could switch to the 737 instead. There's a lot more information kicking around on that aircraft, since it is the best selling airliner in the world and has been around a lot longer. It also underwent a major redesign for the NG, so it offers an interesting study aspect with regard to technical developments.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
June 20, 201015 yr Author Thank you both for your help, but I'm not going to be able to use the 757 or any airplane :(. I re-read the prompt before e-mailing Mr. Lombardi and noticed that the teacher wants us to design bearings to complement a shaft from a previous design project. Looks like I get to spend two more weeks with wind turbines...
